Access Violation Error :(

by GodSpeed3477 » Mon Jul 16, 2012 01:47

I installed Minetest 4.0, and extracted all of the files and everything, so it shouldve worked. But when I try to start up the exe file to play the game, and then it said "Minetest.exe has stopped working" and Im forced to quit the application. I dont know what to do, I have not changed anything or added any mods, and this is the Debug for the error, so im guessing its a "Access Violation" error. I have also tried running it as the Administrator, but still nothing.

Maybe this thread helps you a bit further

http://minetest.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=747

You can try copying the desired/working lines out of minetest.conf.example into mintest.conf (or copy them from here. Use search or find when in the minetest.conf.example and search for # Video back-end.. You'll find this:

# Video back-end.
# Possible values: null, software, burningsvideo, direct3d8, direct3d9, opengl
#video_driver = opengl

So put in your mintest.conf --> video_driver = (one of the underlined)

Other suggestions: before starting up:
- delete the minetest.conf file and or
- delete the files in the worlds folder/map/directory (make a backup if you like)

- or make your own minetest.conf, using the minetest.conf.example. (Remove the # for the desired lines)

Probably you and others know more about this stuff, then nvm. Otherwise maybe it helps :-)
