The problem appeared in 5.4.0 version. When I install large mods and create my local ethernet server while creating the server I get Connection timed out error.
But when I remove a few mods everything is fine. I also noticed that the weaker the device, the higher the chance of this problem. Singleplayer is not a problem.
Connection timed out in singleplayer.

Re: Connection timed out in singleplayer.
So that nobody gets stuck due to this bug, here's the workarounds currently available:
- uncheck the "Host Server" box in the main menu
- run the world from the command line using minetest --server --worldname "name here"
- figure out which mod is taking so long and somehow fix that
