Expired certificate on Minetest Developer wiki

by Juozas » Post

When trying to visit Minetest developer wiki (dev.minetest.net) I see an error that secure connection could not be established. When viewing more details it shows that the certificate expired on 2021-05-25 (Tue, 25 May 2021 01:30:12 GMT). You should renew the certificate or direct this information to the one responsible for it as right now the site couldn't be browsed w/o adding an exception which I wouldn't want to do that w/o a good reason. Main wiki works ok. Also main minetest site shows it uses a self signed certificate which is a bad practice, also it can't be accecced too.
Edit: when accessing the site url that includes www. link still work. Removing www. from link does not work, shows self-signed certificate on minetest main site.

I've already attempted to notify the moderator staff about this. A possibly helpful response I got from one of the developers was "don't use the site its horribly outdated, use https://minetest.gitlab.io/minetest/ instead as it is more up-to-date.

I personally think this is a limited and stupid way to do it, since the documentation is just an indexed copy paste of the limited docs from the docs folder within the main minetest directory, but hey... nobody said writing good documenting a project this large was easy.

celeron55 is aware but doesn't have time to fix the problem, unfortunately. No one else has access to the server

I've removed that link, it's an outdated version of the modding book on a spam/malicious website
The up-to-date official version of the modding book can be found at https://rubenwardy.com/minetest_modding_book/.

I suspect that they may have actually said to use lua_api.txt, not the modding book, as the modding book serves a different purpose. The modding book is a friendly introduction to the Minetest modding API, and goes over key parts of the API. The lua_api.txt and dev wiki both aim to be comprehensive API references, but the wiki struggles at that

lua_api.txt is https://github.com/minetest/minetest/bl ... ua_api.txt

That's understandable but I hope he have some form of plans as well as organizational competency plans if his time continues to be at a premium to be able to do as much as is required to keep this project and community operating at full tilt.

Cause if this sorta of matters don't get addressed in due time, then I would think there a real possibly of Minetest being diasterously fragmented at best if not completely "spoiled" by extremely unmaintained instrafacture.

To be honest, if c55 just set up https://dev.minetest.net to redirect to https://minetest.gitlab.io/minetest/, I think most people would be happier... :P
