I set up a server on a laptop in my home. I can connect to it, and so can friends. But when I do /grantme all it says "privileges are insufficient".
But I'm the admin! how do I get privileges?
running minetest 5.5.1. on a windows machine.
Thanks for any help!

Re: privileges are insufficient
It sounds like you're running a dedicated server. In the server's minetest.conf you need to use name = your_admin_username (obviously substitute your own name in there). That setting sets the name of the administrator account, which should then let you grant privileges to yourself and others.

Yeah, I did that - changed it back and forth between the only two users, but it still doesn't let me or my friend grant any extra privileges.Blockhead wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 03:39It sounds like you're running a dedicated server. What else should I try?

Re: privileges are insufficient
When you logged in with the same name as is set in minetest.conf "name = gamer"
then did '/grantme all' ? or just 'grantme xxx' ?

Re: privileges are insufficient
Try selecting ''Host Server'' for Privs
but dont worry... ''announce server'' means its announced on ServerList

OMG!
As Blockhead stated, set the name either in the main menu or in minetest.conf.
Then, in world, type the following chat command...
You can specify any privilege in the above comma separated list of privileges.
Example:
/grant ShadMOrdre fast,fly,give,home.
In a server, you must specify the user name.
Shad
