MineTest Browser

by realtechnerd » Post

Hello, MineTest admin. I want to suggest a feature, where you could make a browser version of MineTest.
I know how to make a C++ wrapper that can be put in HTML. I am experienced.

This will never be added as it is not a needed feature. I suggest trying to port minetest yourself and maintaining a fork with the relevant changes

What a sweet idea! I'd be all for helping to make this happen. There's already a node.js framework for building Web-based voxel games, and it's entirely open source:

http://voxeljs.com/

And here's a proof of concept: http://voxelmetaverse.com/

It probably isn't realistic to port Minetest as a standalone app (for obvious reasons), but I'm sure that even a "Lite" version that could only connect to servers would be entirely doable since there is significantly less logic for the client to handle in multiplayer mode.

Maybe it's possible to compile Minetest to WebAssembly (wasm) and include that to a website?

Yeah, of course, maybe we could use WebGL?

Before they install Minetest, maybe we could give a Web Demo?

A non-interactive demo can already be accomplished via YouTube :P

Personally, though I'd like to see an iOS version of Minetest (jailbreak, if anything) before a Web-based version. But yes, some way of interacting with a server directly inside a Web browser would be pretty nice particularly for server operators. This is particularly a concern when you're on the road, and public wifi has firewall rules prohibiting use of non HTTP ports.

It does? I've played on MT servers many a time in hotels.

Maybe we could add Minetest to Chrome OS?
There has been a increasing amount of people using Chrome OS.

Since Chrome OS is made by Google, you can install Android Apps. I installed Minetest on my friends Chromebook, and it works, but the game is not optimized for keyboard.
Now, maybe, we could make Minetest Chrome OS edition, post it on the Chrome Web Store?

Now this would be cool. Imagine how many players MT might get if players did not have try to go through the hassle of trying to install software on daddy's work computer. Bored kids in an office can make employees mad at the boss. The brats would have something to do other than stand around and reaching out to touch things they shouldn't. "Sorry daddy. I didn't mean to make 1,000 copies of a blank page!"
:)
Old subject, yes. I just found it.

What's the issue if the pages are blank?
