Sorry to bring this back up, but I'm interested, has this been dropped?
Working on a sub-game; mostly based texture packs, adventure and soon chemistry...

No, it has not been dropped. I had to start from the scratch again and will continue working on it again.

Id like if you dont do it the same stupid way MC does this.
Make the camera be able to move freely arround the model.

I really do hope that this makes it into Minetest (while being better than what is in M-M-M-Minecraft.) Sometimes, I just want to be able to see myself.

I agree, however, that would make it like ROBLOX XD

I like that you can switch back and forth.

And how you imagine then the game to be still playable? Do you want disable interaction when looking behind you or do you want have a player model that animation is digging toward the camera but destroing a block behind itself?

IMO that "stupid MC way" is fine for the beginning...

It shouldnt be "playable" (i.e. you cant dig nodes) while you are in 3rd person view.

Compiling as I speak...

EDIT
I hit F7 and it doesn't do anything. I may bring up the console next time to see if I'm doing anything wrong.

It works, even with Zeg9's skins mod.

I like the idea of having the 3rd person option, but I also like having a pure "spectator" version as well. no interaction, but able to move the camera around the body. maybe have the option of holding "alt" down to change camera position, and have it snap back when "alt" is release. just an idea.

If you want such a free view, why not take a mod like Doppelgänger? Of course it wouldn't be "you", and others would see "you" as where the server believes you to be, but for all practial purposes, it ought to be the same.

Look, look:
http://youtu.be/kXRSUfdj2cQ
Even oOChainLynxOo finds this new adittion to be exciting. Now, if someone would just make a build with RealBadAngel's normal-generating patch in it, things would be very nice.

How about the addition of the feature discussed in the topic below as well?

It works great. It just doesn't work underwater. It acts as if a block us in the way.

No I have had the same problem. Still, don't try to push Blockmen too much. he has a lot of things he has been working on.
“Would it save you a lot of time if I just gave up and went mad now?”

“I'd far rather be happy than right any day.”

Cause then I have to gets other's to install it on their servers :P. if it's in the client, then it doesn't take a mod.

How is a static placed model compareable with a real third person view?

Thank You. Great job. Much Awesome.
7:42 PM - Bauglio: I think if you go to staples you could steal firmware from a fax machine that would run better than win10 does on any platform
7:42 PM - Bauglio: so fudge the stable build
7:43 PM - Bauglio: get the staple build
