[WIP] Nether mod

I'm working on a nether mod now for minetest++, but I need help with textures and ideas :). I was thinking something like random world generation with a few nether blocks, and lava everywhere.

You could try to include the nether at a sufficiently low location in the normal worldgen. I think the way terraria does it could work considering this game has thousands of blocks down and up.

It would be great because it removes the need to create another realm and you can just focus on the one world.

I think the only blocks available are glowstone and netherack... And bedrock, because it's in the bottom. Soulblock isn't right now (if celeron adds features to edit entities/players movement, maybe).

by nether mod you mean sometimng similar to the underworld?

if so i have some ideas; nether plants such as posion trees/apples (diff texture then normal trees please :p)
maby some mobs (if you choose too) demons/bats/somethins along those lines
make sure you add tools for the nether blocks since they will be more prominent the stone/wood/etc
im running out of ideas lol
add some type of tnt or something since you will be underground (if it will be unless your just changing the top of the world) so people dont have to mine a boat load of stuff to clear land
if you make the posion tree then maby add a new looking door? idk...as i said im running out of ideas :p

i guess thats all i can come up with now...

ps; correct me on wether or not this will be above world or underground

Yeah, this is like hell, and this will be underground. I've already made a poison mod with poison apples so it won't be too hard to make poison apples here :P
I'm basing this a bit on Jeija's nyanland mod (without the nyancats, of course :P). It will certainly be filled with lava and netherrack :)

kk cool...i might try it out idk (i dont like downloading mods and having to figure out how to install them :p) but it sounds like it will be good...will this be an expansive underworld? aka huge caverns...by huge i mean atleast 100 blocks tall and wide...just curious...as for the mobs i mentioned please please dont make them have the dm's fireball...i hate it when i run into them and they start taking chunks out of what im building...so annoying :p

look at some mobs here http://minetest.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1594

they have some cool looking oreki (in my opinion) that would go well with a nether world/underworld theme :p
of course you have to ask to use them

no, I mean the coding _and_ the textures. I have my hands full with the world generation. 2D textures are fine :)

I'd say. Lava bubblin' all over... Looks like Hell just boiled over. I can't wait for it to be released!

Happy people enjoy that :). I need some help with the generation of lava lakes and netherrack mountains and hills. Can someone give me an algorithm?

You can also add strongholds or fortresses

will some one teach me how to make a mod because last night me and him were talking about the ideas of mine, and i did not know he made this, about hell and heaven worlds. since he is making a hell i will make a version of it but way different and one of heaven. so please teach me how to make a mod

Ruines of towns
Red-colored plants for food. (may be poisonous to humans)
Crystals for lighting
The throne of Hades. A fort that is extra dangerous.
We must be careful not to clone Notches mistakes.

Is it ok if we work on these mods together to make a modpack? I'll show you my ideas on skype.

The nether mod is extremely slow on my computer. I think this is because it has to remove all the nodes down there after map generation. It would be better if it was high up in the sky (with translucent nodes). Then there would be no need to remove all the blocks, you could just add netherrack, lava etc.; This would speed up nether generation.

You could look into making the whole world a nether by editing the mapgen.lua.
Just make all new nodes, and replace the aliases with the node it should be.
So you could make seas of lava and trees of mese
