Edit: This mod is abandoned now that I've switched to Squaresville C.

Chaos is just a weird world. It's probably not practical for survival games, but who knows?

In the same vein as Multi dimensions (though not compatible with it), Chaos is a separate "dimension" which actually occurs high in the air (5000 meters, by default). You can teleport there with the teleport command. I'm still trying to work out how to make a portal that won't drop you in the water.

This is an artwork in progress.

Problems:

- mobs will tend to fall off the many overhangs
- some water mobs can't swim, since the "water" is not actually water*
- the floating objects frequently cast dark shadows
- "caves" are empty and a bit dull
- unusual node types are much easier to get than normal
- skybox isn't blended properly (since I made it manually)

* You can fix this in mobs_redo by setting the mob's "fly_in" parameter to "chaos:weightless_water", or by adding the mob to mobs.lua in chaos.

I tried to run the mod and i got the error saying: .minetest/mods/chaos/nodes.lua:223: attempt to perform arithmetic on global 'light_max' (a nil value)
And a crash, of course.
But i made the skybox, which might be much better than the original one :)

Though i could make it even more so, I think.
Test version here(I'm sorry for its enormous size, but i like to work in high quality): http://www.filedropper.com/chaossky
It is only a skybox mod, it won't just work when loaded with chaos mod (since it has its own skybox already), but it will work on any minetest world (In case that world doesn't have some other skybox mod activated).

I've added a template to reregister water mobs from mobs_redo so they can operate in the fake water chaos uses. However, they still tend to fall to the bottom any time the water surface is irregular. That's a mobs_redo issue.

Taking a queue from Multi dimensions, I've moved the chaotic terrain high in the air (5000 meters, by default). You can teleport there with the teleport command. I'm still trying to work out how to make a portal that won't drop you in the water/lava. The easiest way would be just to teleport everyone to (0,5000,0), which is guaranteed to be a safe building.

You can now run chaos with most other mapgens.
