Re: [Mod] Laptop (WIP)
To my amazement, I forgot to 'disable' the email and at the end of the day Thursday, I had students telling me how 'cool' their computers were. I had remembered to update all the clients so the system started working without me realizing it. They were already having conversations on the 'server'.
This leads me to the question, where are emails stored? I don't seem to show any emails when I know there should be some. Are the emails stored locally on the pc - or in a network I should be able to access from any pc?

everything can be a learning experience...
Re: [Mod] Laptop (WIP)
The mails are stored in "Mod-Meta". That is a table in the minetest-world database. The mails are a part of the played world. Writing mails from a world to an other worlds is not possible. It's all server-site.This leads me to the question, where are emails stored? I don't seem to show any emails when I know there should be some. Re: [Mod] Laptop (WIP)
If you could use these Laptops to watch a YouTube-Video it would be the best thing ever ;-)

Yea, but we need such enhancements at the first in minetest: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17003If you could use these Laptops to watch a YouTube-Video it would be the best thing ever ;-)

Re: [Mod] Laptop (WIP)
Maybe some words more about the Framework updates:
v0.29 Timer
For developers: The node timer is saved/restored for each app now. So it is possible to have node timer for each app.
v0.30 Removable Storage Update
After this change the floppy/usb is automatically re-labeled if formatted in removable app
V 0.32 Saving data from apps
Keeping data now works proper if the laptop is taken and placed at other place, even in creative.
Now the new announcement: In development branch (and my master) the printing system is done:
- Mail and text editor have now "print" button which leads to the "print file" dialog
- In dialog an preview is available and scan for printers in range 10 nodes possible. The print is inserted to the printers queue
- The printer needs default:paper and dye:black to print
- The resulting printed paper show on_use the printed content
It should all work, but maybe anyone help me to get the formspecs eye-candy.

Re: [Mod] Laptop (WIP)
I'm going to work on this once all apps coming defaultly are completely done. If I work on it beforehand, it'll lead to a lot of confusion.bell07 wrote:It should all work, but maybe anyone help me to get the formspecs eye-candy.

Re: [Mod] Laptop (WIP)
Except for maybe a handful of tweaks to a few apps I think they are all good.v-rob wrote:I'm going to work on this once all apps coming defaultly are completely done. Re: [Mod] Laptop (WIP)
Yes, but what about the file explorer? That is an important thing that's missing. Once that is done, and any more that are in the GitHub that are actually going to be implemented, then I'll fix up the looks.GamingAssociation39 wrote:Except for maybe a handful of tweaks to a few apps I think they are all good.v-rob wrote:I'm going to work on this once all apps coming defaultly are completely done. BTW, are there going to be any more breaking changes in the API that could ruin apps/hardware made at this time? I want to work on a few things of my own, but I don't want anything to change so that I have to rework it.

Re: [Mod] Laptop (WIP)
I believe that the framework is basically done. Just the basic apps needs to be done.

Re: [Mod] Laptop (WIP)
I developed all I had fun, for now I take a pause in this mod. In framework/API two things may needs to be changed: multiple slot support for removable and the missed file system layer for file manager. If you like you can take over this work.
Note, in case if I change anything on API, I usually change all related places, so no worry about incompatibilities.

I am trying to bring something like the math quiz in basic robots to it but I am still learning and haven't made it work yet. I'll share when I get it tho! Love this mod!GamingAssociation39 wrote:Anyone have any ideas/wanna help to further this mod?

Re: [Mod] Laptop (WIP)
How about an optional dependency on technic? If technic is installed, make computers and printers be devices that consume power when on/while printing.GamingAssociation39 wrote:Anyone have any ideas/wanna help to further this mod?

Re: [Mod] Laptop (WIP)
I have the ultimate idea...
make 2d minetest
inside of a computer
inside of normal 3d minetest
inside of a real computer
though if its ever done it would be SUPER simple like just a flat grass line with a moving sam on it

The great quest of alchemy neither failed nor attained gold; programmers are those great alchemists who transmute caffeine into code.

But something like that would probably make it lag allot
