This is so cool! I started working on a similar project but did not get very far. I would like to help out with the development of this mod. Also I believe tinkers construct is under the MIT license as well so would you consider maybe using the textures from it for this mod?

Sorry for the bump.

Is there any difference in the finished tool if you use different materials? like if you make a pickaxe with the head from steel and the rest from copper, and make another with all its part made from steel. would one last longer than other or something?
Also is there compatibility with other mods resources?

Ideally, yes. However, the current algorithm for calculating the values is very primitive and you can get pretty ridiculous tools pretty easily. This will hopefully be worked on eventually.

Its just a matter of defining them in the mod. There is an API for everything, however it is not well documented.

Hopefully I will return to this project soon, but no guarantees.

I got this error from putting a bucket of molten metal into the metal caster:

AsyncErr: Lua: Runtime error from mod '??' in callback node_on_timer(): .../username/.minetest/mods/melterns/metal_melter/caster.lua:266: attempt to call field 'get_liquid_for_bucket' (a nil value)
