[Mod]Ender Chest[xenderchest]

Ender Chest mod is based off of the moreinventorys mod, the textures are from jp's xdecor mod, enjoy:)

How to use:
First with you first chest put in a name and a password.
next time you place a enderchest do the same but it has to be the same password as the first.
and the items in the first will be the same in the other.

I think it's missing a crafting recipe.

(Also a readme.md so players can know the recipe, and the LGPL2.1 licence)

In order to allow other people to use your mod, you should add a license (without it means we have no right at all, even to use it).

Anyway, an ender chest is already provided by Xdecor mod.

There is no license for the code, especially no license/credits for the textures.
These things need to be fixed

Sorry Guys this was a older mod when I didn't know how to license stuff and make git repos, I will update when I have a chance.

You should put the textures within the mod folder and put the mod folder's contents on top level of the repository so one can simply get clone the repository to get the mod.

It's also advised not to use WTFPL.

Not only because the F that can cause trouble in educational or commercial/professional environment but also because of this.

Best would be using one of the free CC licenses.

I am aware of that, but jp's textures are under WTFPL, I can't do much about it unless I make my own textures :|

unlike GitHub, your code actually belongs to you

if you're not aware, Microsoft bought GitHub back around Jun 4, 2018
which means they own everything on GitHub.
I pulled my sources the moment they notified:

I know I'm not :P

but anyways, you already have your repo created
not sure if you're willing to go through the same process twice

heh, I love your innocence here, I'm pretty much the same :)
the only thing I want is credit for my work, I don't really care what others do with my code as long as it remains free.

and that's why I'm against GitHub, or rather Microsoft specifically who'd likely use my source against me given the opportunity.
(if GitHub had never been bought by them, there'd be no concern, although I do still find GitLab to be more freedom-focused in comparison)


btw, I have an idea (or rather a few) for your mod

since "ender" isn't really a thing, and mese is more of an alien substance capable of just about anything
how does a rename to "P2P mese chest" sound?? :)
(suggesting since it's already quite different to minecraft's ender chest which is player-locked)

secondly, how bout having the ability to switch channels on the fly without having to break the chest
just logout and login with another user/pass name

and third, will you be adding a pouch-like item that you can just use (R-click) to open (without placing)??


even as is, this mod has been extremely useful :D
I have 2 clients running, and it really helps to transport items over 5000 blocks away between players :)

heck, I also have an idea to create a sorted limitless storage system if I can use mesecons to abuse channel access.


yes I'm the type of person who heavily abuses game automation XD
like I was heavily into Mekanism and other similar mods to build a high speed multi-crafter with OpenComputers being the brains in Minecraft.

why not just use creative mode?
because achieving pseudo-creative mode where you auto-craft your items through legit means is more fun.
(think of more AE2-like, screw Equivalent Exchange)

Wow i'm glad someone is actually interested in this :D Anyways if Microsoft turns on me then i'll just switch to git lab but for now i'm fine. So about the mese, this mod originally was just me extracting code from moreinventorys, but now that I see interest i'll see what I can do ;)

I'm sure there's others looking for this that just don't know it's available ;)

as for me, I loved how "ender" was basically minecraft's word for quantum when it came to tech
and how you could basically create entangled connections between items, fluids, or locations that could even go between worlds.

for Minetest, I just desire a more minecraft-like experience
but at the same time want minetest to be better than minecraft (as it already is)
so yeah, that's why I'm thinking it's probably better to leave minecraft's End out of this, as cool as it was.


for those with hard-ons about minetest being it's own thing, I'm with you
but in it's current state, it needs a lot of work, and minecraft just did a lot of things "right"
so that's what I mean by minecraft-like, I don't want the game to be exactly like minecraft.
(it's already different, and FAR better)

Are you sure of that ? Never read something like that in Github terms of service.

IFAIK your code is still yours, even if you post it on Github.

yes, very, there has been a trend amongst many corporate entities involved with data collection (selling user data), and Microsoft is no exclusion.
GitHub is now a part of Microsoft, which means whatever is put on the fore-front in their ToS is only an appearence.

it's very easy for a corporate entity to say one thing, but do another, (Blizzard, Bethesda)
so it's up to you to be observant of what happens in their backend and base your decisions off their actions.
Microsoft is not on your side, they never have been, and never will be. (as long as the focus is money)

but anyways, I only wanted to shed light on the issue for the mod developer, I don't want to turn this thread into yet another long discussion over corporate abuse.
(personally I'm sick of talking about it)
and honestly, I really want to keep that stuff (and my burning hate for it) out of this community :)
(but I don't want to see this community fall victim to it as well and be surprised when it happens despite the many warnings)
