[Mod] Semi-simple mushroom overhaul [mushrooms_redo]

Since the removal of spores from Minetest, food has been scarce.

We have had to scavenge for mushrooms.
The days have been short. The nights, long and bitter with cold, remain.

Now, for the first time in years, the ability to farm mushrooms has returned, and it goes by the name of
mushrooms_redo

Mushroom farming is not the same, however.

Once placed in a suitable environment, mushrooms will grow on their own, but the environment they will grow in must be carefully prepared:
  • Mushrooms need light, but not too much. The light level must be between 3 and 5, inclusive.
  • Mushrooms will only grow on group:soil. This means dirt, grass, rainforest litter, or dry grass are all suitable.
  • You must be patient. Mushrooms grow slowly. Very slowly.
  • (Obviously) this mod must be installed. Download

Make more different mushrooms and change their growing parameters so your mod will extend the Minetest Game mushrooms.

Exactly. I've done the same thing, and rethinking everything over twice has been very educational. I'm sure if you take a bit of time to think it over that you'll find that there is plenty to improve on the default mushrooms.

mushrooms could grow in stages, same as grass, ferns... that might be a nice addition.
maybe add a new type which is in a cluster, rather than just the one.
