This is a mod which adds rain and snow to minetest. It is more of a proof of concept but is stable enough to try out for yourself.
The commands are /snow, /clear, /rain to activate the weather
A few features:
*commands: rain, snow, clear
*weather is dynamic, it changes to the environment so you can build a shelter from it
*rain leaves puddles or floods
*snow leaves snow on the ground
*only updates when your position changes (might change this)
*looks nice
*isn't too too laggy
problems:
*buggy weather clearing
*poor coding because this was a proof of concept
*rain and snow overlap (will be fixing this tomorrow)
*need to find a better way to clear the weather because they are node based

Snow looks like good. I hope does it add snow layers? Also, drop of the rain should look like smaller and more narrow. And still suggestion: if it is much raining, it should sometimes add water half-blocks (it will look when default water is leaking).

It does all that, and the rain loops faster than the snow so it looks thinner, but imma have to thin it out even more.
Snow adds default:snow
Rain adds default:water_flowing level 3 to create puddles
*Heavy performance optimizations
*weather will no longer spawn inside your house with a torch in it
*The radius of weather is now 25 instead of 30
*weather will no longer linger and get stuck in the world, old weather is removed
*Removing old weather on weather change and going to clear sky is moved into voxel manipulator
