[mod] Nightscape (updated V1.1)

Updated to Version 1.1:
  • - Incorporated user feedback
    - New additions:
    • - Novodinia
      - Bioluminescent Sea Urchin
      - Freshwater Latia Snails
      - Blue Ghost Fireflies in a Bottle
      - Anemone Tentacle Weapon
      - Dried Sea Urchin
    -Mechanics changes:
    • - Novodinia flashes on and off at night
      - You can make traps out of dried sea urchins
      - Latia uses a decoration to generate in fresh water
      - Random chance of getting large sea anemone tentacle for each mined open sea anemone
    - Fixes:
    • - Description and depends have been moved to mod.conf
      - Textures now use texture naming conventions
      - Firefly light level has been tweaked
Original Version 1.0:
Nightscape adds a little spice to Minetest in the form of bioluminescent and biofluorescent creatures, such as:
  • - Motyxia
    - Glow worms
    - Mycena clorophos mushroom
    - Omphalotus illudens mushroom
    - Bioflorescent anemones,
    - Bioluminescent plankton
    - Small glow worms
    - Blue Ghost Fireflies
    - Glow worm larva
Nightscape also adds two non-living items:
  • - Glowstick
    - Bioluminescent powder
Mechanics:
  • - Grow your own glow worms on cobblestone using glow worm larva! Grind them into powder to make glowsticks.
    - Anemones only come out at night.
    - Blue ghost fireflies move around at night and disappear during the day.
    - Glow worms appear and disappear.
    - Plankton appear and disappear.
    - Motyxia appear and disappear.
    - Glowsticks are throwable.
    - Small glow worms and glow worms drop glow worm larva.
    - Anemones, Omphalotus illudens, Mycena clorophos, and Blue Ghost Fireflies use decorations to spawn on the map.
    - Small glow worms use ore gen to appear on the map.

* Please use v7 mapgen for optimal gameplay. (V6 mapgen is not recomended.)

Neat mod, I love luminiscent suff;
few criticisms tho.

you should update the mods.conf file:

description = Nightscape adds bioluminescent and biofluorescent creatures
depends = default
then ditch the depends.txt & description.txt files

It would be nice if you followed naming conventions for textures.

I also think the fireflies are way too much light.

Thank you for downloading my mod. I will try to update those things in a later update. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. You are right about the textures. I was just under the impression that if I save it in the textures directory, it would not mess with other files. I will try to rectify the mod.conf issue soon too. I will make the fireflies less bright too. Thanks.

I am working on a new update. Does anybody have any other suggestions? Creatures, fixes, mechanics? I am mostly fixing some bugs and conventions, but I still want to add more bioluminescent life to my mod. If you have any suggestions or questions, please post them in the comment section. Also, can somebody give me advice about how to keep anemones from spawning on the beaches?

right now i cant download minetest let alone your mod
do you have a respository?

could you add some screenshots to showcase your mod and your mobs?

The list of features looks interesting, but an image could provide much more insight. Please attach one or two screenshots to the main post to greet players who might be interested in this mod.
Other helpful information for the main post would be: mod dependencies, license of the code and related projects. Latter in case there are complementary mods - such that work well together with this one.

Hello,

If a glowstick is targeted by an explosion from the tnt mod, the game crashes. This can be fixed with an addition I've made like on this fork.
