[Mod] Tech Age [techage]

Tech Age, a mod to go through 5 tech ages in search of wealth and power.

Tech Age (techage) is the successor to TechPack V2, at first glance similar and yet completely different!

Image

Important facts
  • techage is not backwards compatible and cannot be installed on a server together with TechPack
  • techage is significantly more extensive, since additional mods are integrated
  • techage represents 4 technological ages:
    • Iron Age (TA1) - simple tools like coal pile, coal burner, gravel sieve, hammer for getting ores and making goods
    • Steam Age (TA2) - Simple machines that are powered by steam engines and drive axles
    • Oil Age (TA3) - More modern machines that are powered by electricity.
The electricity is generated by coal & oil power plants. The oil must be explored, extracted and transported.
    • Present (TA4) - Electricity from renewable energy sources such as sun and wind.
    • Future (TA5) - Machines to overcome space and time, new sources of energy and other achievements.
Environmentally friendly electricity storage, intelligent machines and means of transport of the future
  • Since the levels build on each other, all ages have to be run through one after the other
In contrast to TechPack, the resources are more limited and it is much more difficult to pass all levels.
(no endless ore generation by means of cobble generators)

The following mods in the newest version have to be downloaded directly from GitHub: It is highly recommended that you install the following mods, too:
  • signs_bot: For many automation tasks in TA3/TA4 like farming, mining, and item transportation
  • hyperloop: Used as passenger transportation system in TA4
  • compost: The garden soil is needed for the TA4 LED Grow Light based flower bed

Als (seltener) Spieler auf dem Server Tech Age ist das wirklich gelungen.

Empfehlenswert - alles Gute.

I cant get the gravel sieve to work. I dug up some gravel put it in the sieve which is awkward. And nothing came out just the gravel.

More patience please, a gold prospector will not find gold on the first day either :)

Oil Age: Drilling for Oil

After collecting enough ores and raw materials, you can search for oil and build a derrick to drill for oil.

This is cool! I've been a fan of techpack, and came back to see what was new. Much better!

Gravel Washer

Youtube Video

The gravel washer is a more complex machine with the goal of washing Usmium nuggets out of sieved gravel. You need the gravel rinser, a hopper, a chest and running water.

(I changed the probability of the hits to keep the video short :D )

In TA3 and TA4 the machines are powered by electricity.

Tech Age has three kind of power cables:
  • Insulated cables (the white ones) for local wiring in the floor or in buildings. These cables can be hidden in the wall or in the floor (can be "plastered" with the trowel).
  • Overland lines for outdoor cabling over long distances. These cables are protected and cannot be removed by other players.
  • The low voltage cables (the red ones) are used to connect rows of solar modules to the inverter.
Alle types of cables have junction elements to build networks.
The cable and also the pipes / tubes are based on tubelib2, which offers maximum flexibility for the cabling.

Tank cart and chest cart

Techage has its own carts:
  • a tank cart to transport liquids
  • a chest cart to transport normal items
Both carts are based on the mod Minecart, which allows to control the rail path and the stopping time on rail buffers/bumpers.

This thread hasn't gotten that much attention yet. That's why I just wanted to say "Good job! It looks amazing". I'm definitely going to try your mod soon. It's already giving me some great ideas for a modpack.

Thanks TestificateMods,

This mod seems too perfect to be discussed here :)
Better no response than server crash reports...

Distillation Tower

Oil is broken down into its main components: bitumen, fuel oil, naphtha, gasoline and propane gas via the distillation tower.
Further processing to end products takes place in the chemical reactor (will be shown later)

Chemical Reactor

The reactor is used to process the ingredients obtained from the distillation tower or from other recipes into new products.
A reactor consists of various tanks and silos with the ingredients, the reactor base, reactor stand, vessel, filler pipe, and doser.

Thermal Energy Storage

The thermal energy store consists of a storage block (concrete shell, filled with gravel), heat exchanger (3 blocks high), turbine and generator.

Three sizes of storage block are supported: 5x5x5, 7x7x7, and 9x9x9

In principle, the heat storage system works exactly the same as the batteries, only with much more storage capacity. This is necessary because solar cells and wind turbines do not permanently supply electricity.

Thanks, I don't expect any surprises. The mod has been running stable on my server for months.

I have added a Quick Start Guide

You mentioned that "techage" mod is not compatible with techpack. Could you please provide more details on that? We are using techpack on our main server, and I was wondering about adding techage there.

hmm, could be challenging...

Even if they would work side by side, working together is definitely not possible. No idea what happens when you connect blocks from both mods. At best, nothing happens.
But since both mods partly use the same textures, the distinction would be difficult.
The techage code is currently checking whether TechPack is already installed and generates an error, if so.

I just remembered, techage changes some basic behaviour of MTG (iron in addition to steel, basalt as result of lava and water). That means, TeckPack would not work any more as expected.
