[Mod of a mod] Useful HV Machines for Technic [2.0]

by cheapie » Post

---Extract over the 'technic' mod in the 'technic' modpack, overwriting files when prompted---

License: LGPLv2+ (as it has code and modified textures from Technic)

This adds an HV electric furnace and HV grinder to Technic. They work the same as the MV versions, they just use more power and run faster.
Version 2 uses the HV grinder textures already in Technic and lowers the speeds a bit. I'm still waiting on good HV furnace textures.

I have made a pull request for Technic for this: https://github.com/minetest-technic/technic/pull/118.

It's good to see HV machines. MV added tubes and upgrades. HV seems to be used by quarrys mostly. But what might HV add? Something that could be very intresting would be to combine machines.

MV furnaces usually don't manage to feed tubes fast enough in order to send their material out. Perhaps HV machines could combine MV ones - i.e. grinder + furnace integrated into one machine. Or furnace + grinder + furnace for glass production. While it looks great to watch items walk through the tubes, it does cause server load.
A list of my mods can be found here.

The HV and MV furnaces seem to be near-indistinguishable when active, and even then they seem to smelt at the same speed (tested with both furnaces smelting sand - I used a constructor to place and dig the wires at the same time, and they had both produced the same amount of glass). It also seems to have the wrong textures for the side, but that is how the MV furnace and alloy furnace have been before this mod was made.
