2) Create a mod folder, say, newnode, and create a init.lua inside of that folder
3) Create a node definition with newnode:node and assign a random texture, eg default_wood.png or wool_white.png
4) Test it by using it in singleplayer with the giveme command, /giveme newnode:node -1
5) You have made your first mod.

I'm thinking of creating additional code & a texture for stu's 'minetest-3d_armor' mod: Carbon Fiber Boots, aka Long-Fall Boots.
Recipe:
"Coal Block" "" "Coal Block"

The idea is that with the boots equipped, instead of reducing combat damage like the other boots, they instead cut the damage taken from falling in half. For the most part, I can copypaste, say, Wooden Boots, and change the recipe. Then I can mod a texture so it's black rather than brown. Then I can remove the bit that causes the Wooden Boots to absorb combat damage and lose integrity.
The problem lies in that I have absolutely NO idea how to do the whole, "cut damage in half" bit for falling. I'd figure that after a set number of jumps that would normally deal damage, say 500 damage-inducing jumps, the boots would fall apart and you'd have to make new ones.
Help? Should I make a thread for this?

A mod that adds bigger mountains, and some flatland. A good mix of the two. I know I can you mg_flags to add flat land, but it makes it all flat and unnatural looking.

Is anyone interest in making a tree mod where a forest of trees grow underwater. I'm thinking a mod that sorta bring us to a world much different that's not really a realm-like thing. Like tree growing in the deep waters, not the shallow parts.
If not, what are some useful codes I could use to make it happen? As well as codes to modify the design of the tree.
I also was wondering it I could use the mineral generation code to spawn cobwebs in caves.
