[0.4.14] LinuxGaming2 - Shutdown
RohitM wrote:Lazy, if you dont have this already, I can make a (windows) program that will find events in the debug log. It can find the events for a particular coordinate/player. If you are interested I can make a Microsoft Small Basic program on the idea. (You probably already have something of the sort)
Thanks, Rohit.
I use Linux and a command-line search program called "grep" to scour the server logs. I use this program to search backup copies of the logs on my computer and the server has the same program so I can search in real-time.

Doors won't hold their permafy, that is a known issue. If you open or close your door it will lose it's permafy. Same goes for dirt, grass, snow on dirt... any block that changes position (doors open/close) or state (dirt/dirt_with_grass) as part of it's funciton, automatically loses it's permafy. Hopefully our coders will figure out how to fix that someday.
Does that mean I have to break a wall to get in?
PS: can we add protection blocks mod?

There are diffrent types of protection mods. Permafy is what is used here. Unfortionately, it has its limits. I hope that the areas mod will quickly develop. Its predecessor, node_ownership, offers good protection witout causing undesired side effects for buildings (protector mod: protection blocks where you don't want them in your building; landclaim: chunk sizes influence building style considerably).Leroy wrote: PS: can we add protection blocks mod?
Perhaps we can convince Orby to combine permafy and areas.
A list of my mods can be found here.

RohitM wrote:I think I foud it: One of my shops is glitched, whenever I come near it or click it, the server fails. Can you help me destroy it?
What are the coords of where the shop is located?
Some more details may help us solve this so it hopefully won't happen in the future.
Is it only when you click on the shop or does it happen when you are near it?
What is in the shop?
What is around the shop? (Other shops? Chests? Locked chests? Steel doors?, Furnace?... any block-type/item that does something?)

Pls structures 20 blocks around and prmafy in my name (Rohit not RohitM)
The new-growth trees have been permafied as well as the brass fences above and below, the glowglass road, and the vertical ladder columns. You will have to reset the locked signs at the base of the ladder column. When permafied, the messages of locked signs are masked so the signs need to be reset by the owner. Click on them, then click "Proceed" (you don't have to retype the message), and the message will display to everyone again like it should.

" I want the wazumod!" - It is concidered courtious to ask politely instead of demanding, especially when you wish to copy other people's work. Try using "please" and "thank you" next time.
The wazumod is included in the nightly backups that can be downloaded from here:

The server will be down for a few hours for maintenance after the backup has run.

The server has been upgraded to Minetest 0.4.8 unstable, released 2013_12_14.
Clearobjects has been run to reduce the lag.
The map.sqlite database has been vacuumed (defragged).
Some new mods have been installed:
Ambience (server version)
Player_Textures (skins can now be assigned to playernames)
No_Guest (modified to also kick numbers-only playernames from the server)
No_Drowning (On this server water-elevators are used extensively and many players have built underwater)
Udpates to the older mods will occur as time allows.
This is just a quick blurb. The first post of this thread will be updated soon (after I get a few hours of sleep) with the new-stuff information and updated overview maps to make it all more "official".

New building in LinuxGaming.us server !
The great pyramid of Giza. 102x102 blocks for the base.
I strongly advise you to come on this server. The atmosphere is serious, creative and friendly. The buildings are beautiful (for the most). And the admins are doing a very good job and are very attentive.

Contact Orby about that. He's the one who pays for the server.
On the old website Orby had a donate button we could use to chip-in a dollar or two to help offset the server costs. I wish he had been able to set that up in the new website.
One of the most helpful things players can do for the server is just what you have already done - posting nice screenshots from the server on this thread. \o/
Welcoming new-comers to the server is another thing players can do to help. Especially if you speak their language.
Simple, "little things", like patching the occasional pothole in roads, replacing a cobble stair in the public mine, or fixing a wall or path, planting a tree or two, etc. are other ways to help out. They may not be grandeous but they contribute to the overall improvement of the server.
In general, just being a good neighbor and a caretaker is probably the most helpful thing any player can do for the server.
Thanks again and keep up the good work.
