[Server] VanessaE's Survival Server [5.4.0]

Hi everyone! I've met something pretty strange in this server (actually not only this, but all servers under VanessaE).

Sometimes when I'm playing, my screen will go grey suddenly (randomly, sometimes it will, and sometimes it doesn't), and the game lags very badly (even calling the chat box takes seconds). I fired up F5 to see my coordinates and found that the y position goes down very very quickly, and the x position is 'int', and a lot of Lua errors throw up like spam. Although I can always go back with /spawn or clicking the home icon with green arrow in the inventory, this is still annoying. Don't know what's wrong but I hope that this can be fixed! Thanks!

I used to have exactly this problem many times when I started playing on Vanessa's Creative Server. But one day it stopped and I never had it again. Didn't remember if I change anything on my settings (I really don't think so).

What version of the client are you using? If you find yourself suddenly falling or rocketing away in a random direction for no reason, your client is probably busted. The server can send you flying off of course, but it has no reason to actually do this normally.

Yes it's it. I'm using Minetest 0.4.9 on Lubuntu 13.10, installed from the official PPA provideed by Minetest. Can this be fixed?

Small update: backup schedule adjusted again to try to better coincide with the server's quietest times. It will now occur at 10:00 am UTC (5:00 am EST).

Well the largest open mine on Survival is open with first level -100m fully connected to 5 mineshafts. Each level has stations with elevator, water, furnances and chests to dump stuff you don't want to keep. Rope ladders connects surface and each level. You are free to mine between levels using rope access. Plans to have levels every -100m. Only one shaft is currently at a depth of -400m.

Please keep work station untouch. You're curious of if there is something on the other side.. dig around. Any lava close by noted with signs. I've made some connections to caverns long rope and levels... plenty to explore.

To get to Open Mines, they're in the North West and accessable by heading North on North Centre Road to North Oasis Road. Or you can travel directly by choosing 'Outpost One' from any of my travelnet boxes along Centre Roads.


Happy digging. And the land above is also open except PLEASE don't block or BUILD OVER roadways or open mine shafts.

expanded the mine project with a underground corridors at 400.5 all the way from Outpost One to spawn. additional tunnel down North Centre Road and West Centre Road.
Started laying rail from Central northward. This is an open passageway so come check out the largest mine on Survival.
