I looked around on four of VanessaE's servers today and took the following screenshots:
Below are two screenshots of some stuff that I built on VanessaE's Creative Server:

Re: Post your screenshots!
Ever since Version 0.4.10 of Minetest was released, I noticed something very strange: SkyLands no longer would generate in under two seconds, but would take up to 35 seconds per chunk! After a few days of hard coding, sweaty fingertips, and periods of almost giving up, I successfully cleaned up the pools code for SkyLands and heavily optimized it! A couple screenshots of an island generated with an average of 400 ms per chunk, and no spikes greater than 4 seconds (with the average spike being only 1):
This was the 4 second spike:
And a nice Jungle surrounded cave with a pond:
Optimization is still ongoing, but I'll probably commit the changes before the day is done.

Re: Post your screenshots!
Is your pools code based on highlandpools? that used to occasionally take up to 30s per chunk for me, but then my laptop is slow. Strange that 0.4.10 would make a difference to your generation time. I will be interested in your optimisations. Your recent screenshots are beautiful, i intend to try this mod again soon as i haven't tried the unlimited version.
It's good how our mods complement each other, since mine tend to be minimal and lightweight and yours prettier and more complex.

30s? That sounds like you need LuaJIT in your build, it makes those mapgens much faster.paramat wrote:that used to occasionally take up to 30s per chunk for me, but then my laptop is slow.

Re: Post your screenshots!
LadyMacBeth, that is my island / archipelago mapgen? Looks like the remains of the Canadian Doge public server. Do these buildings have internal circulation like stairs etc.? Excellent work as always, mauvebic is perhaps my favourite Minetest builder.

Re: Post your screenshots!
actually only two of these are his all the other are mine. And sorry the island/archipelago didn't have enough land to start on, one tower would take one island by itself. The building I reproduced a from Montreal, Dubai and Seoul.

^ The old texture would make a good Minetest t-shirt 'in real life' (i can't stand the new texture).
LadyMacBeth, ah that's cool, i was confused because the dark grey towers with the green roofs have that 'mauvebic look' :)

What is wrong with it? If it's blurred, it's because anistropic filtering is on. (or bi-linear filtering or tri-linear filtering)Krock wrote:

The coat (or what it is) is also on the legs. Here in minetest, they're on the wrong side :/Evergreen wrote:What is wrong with it?
You can get this too, by creating an MC skin for MT.

Re: Post your screenshots!
You can use mip-mapping and anisotropic filtering without textures being blurred; this gives the best results but is slower. What makes the textures blurry is bilinear or trilinear filtering.Evergreen wrote:What is wrong with it? If it's blurred, it's because anistropic filtering is on. Boat rocket. Boats don't like changes in water level https://github.com/minetest/minetest_game/issues/291
I'll try to solve this soon.

Re: Post your screenshots!
So, in order to get some nice nodes for some schematics involving pillars of quartz, I have started working on adding stairs dependency to SkyLands:
Also, in SkyTest, I am having more variety, due to tweaking moreblocks/stairsplus to my needs. So look forward to the next updates!
