Wife and kids requested a Christmas tree that would fit inside a house. This tree is 3 blocks high so should fit in most cases. Tree emits light at 12 so as not to be dark inside poorly lit houses. I would like to expand on this mod to include many other Christmas items, but chose to release now as free time is limited and unlikely to be completed before the day.

The Christmas trees and wreath are meshnodes. You will need a later build of Minetest to use this!
VannessaE's description of Minetest requirements say it best (Mesh primitive objects):
Depends: minetest_game/default and Minetest engine development build from commit d2219171 or later (anything older will either just show cubes, or models that are way too small).
Minetest 4.11 will support this right out of the box when released.
Note: both Minetest client and server must be support the new meshnode drawtype or they will look awful :)

Christmas tree crafting recipe is:
blank, default:gold_ingot, blank
blank, default:sapling, blank
default:sapling, default:sapling, default:sapling
Image

Outdoor Christmas tree crafting recipe is:
blank, default:gold_ingot, blank
blank, default:sapling (2), blank
default:sapling (2), default:sapling (2), default:sapling (2)

Outdoor Christmas tree with snow crafting recipe is:
blank, default:gold_ingot, blank
default:snow, default:sapling (2), default:snow
default:sapling (2), default:sapling (2), default:sapling (2)

Christmas wreath crafting recipe is:
blank, default:sapling, blank
default:sapling, blank, default:sapling
blank, default:sapling, blank
Image

Enjoy :)
1.0.2- Added two outdoor Christmas trees. One with snow.
1.0.1- Added wreath. Reduced image file sizes. Fixed tree collisioin box
1.0- released the tree

Thanks Guys :)
I wasn't sure how folks would receive non cubic items. I made a Christmas wreath to add last night. I am struggling making low poly game friendly models. I'm used to high poly smooth results.

Yeah this nice. Nicely made.
Maybe make a Santa Sled? and a Snowman?

Anyway, This will go good for maybe my house.
I'm a Transgender no shame about it.
I prefer to be considered as a "Girl/Lady/Miss/Madam/Female" for now on.

@Alt.Tester
Great idea making a sled. The snowman is on my todo list already. My daughter wants stockings with inventories and floating text with the owners name. Also she's needing mistletoe, though I'm hoping she doesn't know what it's for. Also strings of lights to decorate roofs, windows and fences. Gifts that hold inventory to be given and much more. I'll be working on this mod through summer as I can only spend a few minutes at a time on the computer these days.

I managed to add a couple larger outdoor Christmas trees. One has a snow texture. I made them without the candy canes. I was afraid they may melt outside :P

Excellent. Thanks for the share :)

Just a suggest: put some leaves in the recipes.

@jp
I would be more then happy to adjust the recipes. I admit my recipes were a afterthought so folks wouldn't have to resort to the /giveme command or creative.

If you come up with a reasonable rewrite requiring only the default mod... I will likely use them :)

PS You all are making me feel pretty darn good about my first mod. Well maybe not the first, but the first publicly released one anyway.

It would be good to add that Minetest - Dev is required.

Done in the first post. Thanks for the nudge. I saw your inquiry in another thread and it got me thinking :)

So.. I was wondering if you would mind ExeterDad if I use the Tree models as part of my Real-Life Subgame? but have them just trees. since might look good and all. But I will give Credits where needed. And I might help you with some models. just got look into some ideas. and I might even add in something. but might take sometime before done.

It's a good mod. It's good to see some one using meshes. Personally, I think it shows how much people are developing and giving the minetest project. Keep up the good work. :)

P.S. Could you post a tutorial on how to texture 3d meshes. It would be a tremendous help to me. Thanks.

A teacher I am not. But maybe I can come up with some content that someone could add to or clarify :)
The texturing is pretty much straight forward Blender techniques, but the meshes themselves take a quite a bit of fiddling so they show as expected in Minetest.

Thank you for the kind words!
