Have you though to give the canteen in the beginning of the game. I try to play and it is hard to play with the thirsty mod in it. And when you kill the cow. It does not give you meat. Only leather.

Also I was thinking of adding rabbits ,cows,pigs,sheep,creeper,zombie,chicken and ect......... . But beware I was also thinking to use pilz's code for the nether and add ghast also their sound is like the minecraft one also they sound horrible like cats meowing and child screaming on death. Well also maybe some rabbit stew.also pigmen and blaze .why not? Also I do that private but Nathan you could also do something similar I don't mind if people follow my ideas . But also some man made structures that generate with goodies and bosses well also some advance enchanting and potion brewing anvils and dispensers the hardcore way .

Updated several things here and there, removed depreciated code and made the bronze canteen fillable from the well, for some reason past me didn't do that, and present me doesn't know why. I also fixed the ABM for the sand_with_food node so it won't replace all sand around water, which was a serious problem it had in the past.

What would an automatic well do different than the current one? Just fill the bucket faster?

Also what would a craft recipe look like for something like this?

Maybe make it so the normal well requires a few clicks to drop the bucket down and then back up?
The crafting could be

But crafting something like this would be unrealistic. It could be a node tht generates in villageas.

Hmm, I feel like it would probably be easier for somebody to just build a little infinite water supply next to the well if they needed that much water.
