Quick note: Some English human setting names are awfully verbose (and redundant).

Especially the setting names for the detailed mapgen settings (v5, v6, v7, etc.). They all repeat the mapgen name.
Since the settings are presented in a tree view, this is redundant. The mapgen name can be left out because it is implied by the parent node in the tree structure.

Writing the full name would only make sense if you intend to present the setting names in a flat structure or something.

For example “Mapgen flat lake threshold” (mgflat_lake_threshold) sould be shortened to “Lake threshold”.

Can we have an API so mods can add own entries and descriptions and groups for configurable options?

Doesn't that already work in the git version?

I assume that you meant "add difficulty settings"?

If a game wants to add a difficulty setting, it needs to do it itself. Besides, there isn't much that would increase the difficulty of minest_game as of now without just being an annoyance. (in other words, that isn't the job of the minetest engine)

I really like the new settings menu, now I can easily tweak my graphics settings and get 60 FPS! (with shaders! on a laptop!)

And because of the new found ability to change every aspect of my minetest.conf with ease, I even tried MT on my 3D TV!! It worked quite well, but the formspecks dont display right, they display over the 3D side by side/interlacing.

To be honest, it is very difficult. New settings will not be understood by new players and have terribly stupid GUI. You can hide most of the settings and add the checkbox "Show profound settings"
So, I can not push many ellementy on Android. The buttons would have been much easier to list.

Move the following settings from Server/Singleplayer->Game: "Default password" and "Disallow empty passwords" to Server/Singleplayer->Security.

Small suggestion: Make settings which have been altered from the default (will be written into minetest.conf) in a different color. This can be helpful not to lose track because they are so many settings.
