What version of the fishing mod do you use? I use Xanthin's simplified/light version;
but I am unclear which is the official/first mod that most people use.
I think Minetestforfun's server version is probably closest to the one I need to get for all the textures.
philipbenr wrote:This has been getting surprisingly big. And impressive. Looking good.
Thanks for the encouragement philipbenr :)
I think there are close to 850 all together,
my original goal was just a small pack for default textures.
I failed :)
I think I might seperate the 3rd party mods into their own repo
to keep things simpler.

Do you plan on making 32px normalmaps as well?

I never thought about it.
I really need to find out how they are made before I say 'yes' or 'no'

I have seen some examples of normalmaps in peoples screenshots
and I thought it was incredibly ugly...takes the cartoon feel away from things

But I cant really dismiss their value as I havent had a machine that can use them
so I dont know what they are like firsthand.

..so I guess my answer would be..maybe?

I'm using Mossmanikin's fishing-0.2.3, with crabman77's multiplayer fix. It is relatively simple, but includes fishing trophies.

I would like to install this texture pack, but it doesn't work. I have Minetest 0.4.13 on Ubuntu 14.04 and I installed it from the stable PPA.

I can see it in the Textures tab in the game and I can select it, but it doesn't change anything. The HDX 32px textures are working fine

Any idea?

I am new to using Github, I think I messed up the repo
Its probably inside a folder within another folder

It took forever to upload all those textures and I am not
sure how to fix it without re-uploading again...which I dont want to do

When you select the texture pack does it show a screen shot?
if not then its the mucked up folder problem I describe

I remade the repository without the internal folders
Let me know if it helps.

If you download the zip file it doesnt matter
Github will place the files into an archived folder named after the repository

I might go back to using Dropbox :(

Once you get used to git, it's really nice. I'm even using it for projects that exist only on my hard drive.

It's working now, but not for all textures. Dirt and glas for example are working, stone and cobblestone doesn't. See screenshots

There just isn't much variation in a lot of the up scaled 32px tiles.
I am not perfect at this; so If you examine the screenshots carefully,
you can see some tiny differences. Its 'working' fine.

It will, trust me.

I would highly suggest keeping with git. I am not familiar with it either, but I still am learning. ;) It is very helpful for me, as I have a script that allows me to grab all the changes from anything on github that I used git clone on to be updated, including Minetest. ;)

I figured its how I am managing it thats the problem.
So I split it into groups for easier updating.

Download MTCore32px_default mods only
repository https://github.com/Napiophelios/MTCORE3 ... -mods-only

Download MTCore32px_with more mod support
repository https://github.com/Napiophelios/MTCORE32px

edit : Alternates repo has been deleted

Just another vote here for sticking with github. The main reason is that most of the minetest community use it, but it is very flexible and allows sharing ideas properly (with credits, licenses, change histories and issue trackers all in one place). It's taken me a year to really start getting my head round it properly (maintaining an entire sub-game is relatively complex compared to texture pack), but I think well worth it.

I am definitely keeping it on Github.
Its just aggravating only being able to update one file at a time,
when I do large updates/changes.
I am just used to doing things in batches.

You should be able to do multiple changes at once, or are you doing it through a web interface rather than the command line?
I record Minetest videos, Mod reviews, Modding tutorials, and Lets plays.

Code: Select all

git commit -a
git push
That should update everything you've changed.

No, just fell behind a little :)

All three packs have been updated to reflect changes in the latest Minetest Game.

latest changes:
Added the new "polished" stone blocks
Updated the Mese block texture
Added missing farming soil textures
Renamed the NyanCat textures

Supported mods textures haven't been updated yet (namely, the Castle mod).
