I guess this thread is getting too off-topic, please PM me about it instead.Hybrid Dog wrote:could you use bloom shaders in the fog of the grenade

Unfortunately, Assaultcube doesn't support GLSL by default, so it'll be a mess to implement it.

not anymorekaadmy wrote: I guess this thread is getting too off-topic
i like Minetest, because it is free / libre and it has a lot of cool features.
I Play almost on VanessaE's Servers, on VE-Building or on her Dreambuilder Servers.
There are so much blocks / nodes on this game, that i almost can do everything in minetest.
Some years ago i tested an other free MC / MT alike game, but that was really bad, that was very buggy and i got bored because of lacking features and blocks. Minetest is much much better.
My game (not minetest): http://forum.freegamedev.net/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=6800
my mods: gold_and_gem, meseconductors
a penguin throws an apple through a window
sometimes i change my "forum location" via user control panel

World size
Customizability
A LOT less lag than meincrap.
I mean, really. MT seems a lot faster. But that's understandable given that:
-it's native code, and that's never going to be matched by virtual machines
-modding and mods in meincrap are just a bunch of workarounds and hacks on top of already slow s(tuff) and reinventing stuff in every mod.
But... wait for it... the best feature: you get mods from the server! With textures and sounds!
Also, cheers all! This is my first post.

Welcome to Minetest! Here you'll find a great community (minus a few....shall we say....rough edges....(people)), mods, and plenty of cool people with cool talent!
What draws me to MT? The fact that it's FLOSS, it doesn't have magic and undead (puke) in it by default, it's EXTREAMLY customisable, constantly getting better, has a great community, and it's JUST PLAIN AWESOME!

0.4.14 should be out relatively™ soon, maybe you'll see some of those additions.

Why I came to Minetest ? I hadn't played any voxel-game since Wine stopped making work my MC hack

A quick Google search for "free version of minecraft" brought me here, and mods/modding and VanessaE's creative server keep me here.

Fun. That's all. I suppose I could go to rigs of rods, or ... well, the (mostly) great community is also a big pointer.
N/A
Re: What is it about Minetest that draws you to it?
First, off, yes it's free, open source, and is not restricted by height, but in addition to all of that, there are some other things too. Like the multiplayer server system, for instance: I never need to worry about making sure everyone is up to date on all the mods, and I'm the only one who needs to even know how to set it up.
Also, minetest is a do-it-yourself game. I get to decide exactly what I do and do not want in my world. If I don't like some aspect of a mod, change is just a few keystrokes away. And not only does no one care if I hack and edit the &!#$ out of mods, they'll help me do it!
And finally, the full minetest game works on android devices. Not some lightweight pocket edition, but the full game.
Minetest is never quite precicely what I'm looking for, but I can make it into whatever I want.
