Crafts use stone/stone brick and dyes that come with vanilla minetest. They are meant to have a painted appearance, but you cannot actually paint them in game. This works similar to former colouredstone and colouredstonebrick mods but now the two will match. Hope that helps.

Nice, clean code. Such small mods can enrich the game. We already have some mods in that direction, but it can't hurt to have more. The color scheme also looks friendly and useful.
A list of my mods can be found here.

Thanks for the comment, Sokomine. I definitely was aiming to keep things simple and readily compatible with default textures and colorschemes of Minetest.

I am familiar with the coloured stone and coloured stone brick mods but since i like to mix the textures between smooth and brick stone textures, these two mods were not really compatible for my building style. Were there some other similar mods I overlooked? I wouldn't mind looking at them.

Can you please add support for the paint roller mod?
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=9170
This will allow the stones to be painted with a paint roller.

Thanks for the suggestion, Wuzzy. I will look into it and definitely consider adding this as an optional feature on the next version.

Thanks for the tip. It is indeed a nice mod and if you also download DonBatman's mypaint_extras mod it will allow you to paint several default nodes including stone and stonebrick with colors similar to those offered here.

That noted, so as not to replicate what someone else has done, for now, paintedstone will most likely stay a simple mod adding colored stone and stone bricks for players that want the painted textures without the inventory glut of painting tools, paints, brushes etc.

I modified this to support node texture modifier and have 216 different hex codes per each block also added all the cobblestones and removed stairs plus
