How to make a sever

Well i have tried to make a sever before but i only know my local ip.
So do any of you guy's know how to make a world wide sever,

how do i find out my lan ip.
My computer only show's my local ip in network connection information,and i don't use windows i use linux

You can get a free subdomain from a service like No-IP.

if you use http://freedns.afraid.org you can get a minetest.net subdomain
e.g. alo2.minetest.net
