The PayPal link is still valid yes.

Without going into personal details i can say that the welfare system in the UK used to be generous. But since the economic collapse of 2008 and a right-wing government since 2010 it has changed a lot and a lot of people (especially those with health problems) are now falling through huge gaps in the system and have no income.

What ever you can afford... $1 / $5, more?ABJ wrote:Say I want to donate. How much is the price for donation?
There is no set amount. I am sure paramat is greatly appreciative for any donation.

500 commits, and only a few weeks of money left :)
Thanks so much to those who donated, there are some very generous people out there.

It's better to help project than one guy, hosting cost money and need some donations else minetest serverlist and sites cannot run :(

Re: Request for donations for my development work
I really do wish I had the money to donate :-/
It would be nice if there was some way the community could help those developers that need financial assistance more than others.

That why Patreon would be a good idea: the goal is to pay the servers and the admin work for them.nrz wrote:It's better to help project than one guy, hosting cost money and need some donations else minetest serverlist and sites cannot run :(
The Illuna-Server guys has an account, too ... look https://www.patreon.com/tchncs

Re: Request for donations for my development work
hi paramat, i'd still recommend patreon at some point. i'm sure there's many grateful members here and would love to donate on regular basis like myself. i'd rather have my funds auto transferred to you every month then have to mentally remember and manually click through a paypal link every month to donate. i currently support six artists on patreon every month.. and would be glad to add you on that list. i'm lazy but a grateful minetest person. ;)
Re: Request for donations for my development work
Cheers from ExeterDad and I and the HOMETOWN team, and thank you for all your hard work, paramat! We appreciate you. :)
Our donation was probably just a drop in the bucket, but I also encourage a Patreon account and we will pledge to send a small donation every month.

Re: Request for donations for my development work
fstltna, thanks, you are welcome to add to your website the donation link found in the first post of this thread (note: don't go to the page and copy the web address from there, as it becomes something else that doesn't work).
azekill_DIABLO i had a donation come in soon before your post, i guess that was you? Thanks, and of course it helps. I'm ok.
Kibbie, thanks so much to you all, very generous, received.

Re: Request for donations for my development work
I have passed 600 commits total in MTGame and MTEngine, currently at 635.
https://github.com/minetest/minetest/co ... or=paramat
https://github.com/minetest/minetest_ga ... or=paramat
Highest contributor in MTGame by a factor of 2.
In terms of total commits to MTGame and MTEngine i have the highest number within the active devs, and second to celeron55.
Still working many hours a day on Minetest through obsession.
A while ago i was asked to do well-paid (above minimum wage) work for a fork of Minetest, i did a little, 10 hours, but have decided to not pursue further work (despite being keenly offered more) as my heart is not in it.
This is pretty crazy of me as i have no income and my savings have now run out.
As you might have guessed my financial situation is due to long-term health problems. Due to widely criticised changes in my country (UK) many people in certain situations are falling through large gaps in the system. However, my rent is paid.
If you would like to support and encourage my development work please see the first post for two ways, either direct through PayPal or through Patreon.
If you have something you want coded, or if you need in-depth help on something, and i seem to have the skills needed, feel free to contact me through forum PM, i may be able to offer something in exchange for a donation.
Also don't forget celeron55's donation page here https://www.minetest.net/development/#donate
Apparently the amount of donations he has coming in only covers roughly half of his Minetest expenses.

Re: Request for donations for my development work
Hi Paramat,
Now that I finally have my own internet connection I get to read all these posts. It was always embarrassing to have to use other people's connections and when ever I did I kept my usage to an absolute minimum.
From one dole bludger to another, eh?
I donated as well, in Australia we run a very similar welfare system to your own and we are going through exactly the same problems as Britain, but we're not quite as far down that road yet. I was quite shocked at how little the GBP is worth today.
Although my income isn't much better than your own I don't have to pay rent (private deal, not government housing) and living in the tropics means I also don't have to pay for heating. Having no phone access also helps keep costs down.
My donation is as a thank you for your hard work, for contributing to a game that has kept me home and entertained me for so many hundreds of hours. In this respect you have saved me far more money than I have donated.
Thank you.
Andrew.

Re: Request for donations for my development work
paramat,
Thanks for all your hard work, the game is better for your contributions. Patreon is a pretty cool way for creators to get paid for their work, I support a few of my favorites that way, and gladly signed up to be one of your patrons. I don't have a lot of money, but can spare a few dollars, so I hope it helps. I hope others contribute as well. I have a really cool private server that benefits from your work, so thanks again! I will also contribute to celeron55, thanks for giving the link. I wish I could give more.

Re: Request for donations for my development work
Pitched in what I could for paramat and dropped a tip for celeron55.
As far as coding needing done: Minetest 5.0 to stable! And ignore all other crazy requests except for core.
