[Forum]Author of a Thread Be Able to Moderate his Thread
Hi, I think it would be nice if the person who makes a thread could delete posts in his thread too. And maybe even be able to appoint moderators to that thread.

Re: [Forum]Author of a Thread Able to Moderate his Thread
it would be even nicer, if this were done for (active) server owners, to get subforums which they are able to mod.., as long as they pay a couple bucks toward celeron55 to help pay hosting cost

Um.... I don't want to pay a couple bucks :P Also, why would it be more expensive to have more subforums? :PTumeniNodes wrote:it would be even nicer, if this were done for (active) server owners, to get subforums which they are able to mod.., as long as they pay a couple bucks toward celeron55 to help pay hosting cost

Re: [Forum]Author of a Thread Able to Moderate his Thread
The starters of a thread are in fact less fit to moderate their thread than other people. This is because they will have a conflict of interest from having some role in the thread already. For example, a mod author might delete criticisms of the mod.
Every time a mod API is left undocumented, a koala dies.

Re: [Forum]Author of a Thread Able to Moderate his Thread
any one can help moderate a topic by using the little buttons on individual posts
It's just way easier for everyone to moderate themselves

posts that consist of 2 characters are pointless
but I didn't actually report his post,
just used it as a visual example :)

Oh ok :) It's just that sometimes posts like "+1" are pointful because this forum doesn't have like buttons on posts.Napiophelios wrote:posts that consist of 2 characters are pointless

Re: [Forum]Author of a Thread Able to Moderate his Thread
I disagree. This isn't facebook or Twitter.
No one comes here for validation, at least I hope not.
If you think some one's idea is "+1" but can't articulate why
or improve on the idea,I think it's best to keep it to yourself.
This is just my opinion of course.
Go check out the last 3 pages of the HomeTowne server thread.
There are multiple posts where someone quotes entire posts by others
with a 2-3 character response....multiple times in a row
it's ridiculous.

Sometimes a reply of "+1" is almost a full page long of quotes preceding it

Re: [Forum]Author of a Thread Able to Moderate his Thread
Actually the reason of my so "short" and not "insightful" posts is due to the fact of not wasting precious bandwith and disk space of the Minetest forum's lord and saviour celeron55. Actually i appreciate rather making concise and short posts than give a long and well-done opinion that in most cases may waste the precious and holy celeron55's disk space. Actually this "post" of yours is clearly Offtopic and doesn't contribute anything to the topic of this thread, i find my "+1" rather related and useful to the topic, than your 9 line post that doesn't contribute anything of utility to the title of the topic. If you need to discuss about Shiposting and not "insightful" posts in the thread please make another topic instead of going out the topic. As far as i'd understand this thread if about "An author of a thread being able to moderate his thread", not about "mediocre, vague, offtopic and useless shitposts in the forum" likely the ones you've been doing. I do understand you do not like shitposts and mediocre content being contributed in a topic, but this isn't the thread for you to rant about it.Napiophelios wrote:I disagree. Unless your posts improve or/and criticize the argument of the post you are "validating" or "describing" in a concise and non-mediocre way, please refrain from posting. Such posts that only give a "+1" and describe the argument with only a term or word are certainly something totally neither insightful nor elaborated; something totally mediocre and vague. If you're clearly against "validations" please refrain from posting this kind of content since you're being an hypocrite.kaeza wrote: +1 Insightful
I find this quite ironical. So this is a post of yours, certainly a post full of what you have defined as "validation", nothing more than a "+1" in other words 2 characters. If you are not going to be living proof of the bullshit you want to emphasise to me, please keep that up to yourself.Napiophelios wrote:+1TumeniNodes wrote:... and even keep imgs in with the quotes.

"Reacting" to a post in this manner is inmature, and as well a mediocre excuse to post. If what you're going to post doesn't contribute anything important or of matter to the topic of the thread, please refrain from posting useles shit and wasting everyone's time.Napiophelios wrote:ahh you ninja'd mekaeza wrote: +1 Insightful
Please, unless you don't do what you're criticizing, please, refrain from posting mediocre shit and going offtopic hijacking the thread. Stop with the shit already if you don't know what you're saying, please, you're wasting my and many other people's time, have in mind that many people has important stuff to do to read. Maybe i post what you define as "shit" but at least i get to the topic, not likely you that post shit and not even contribute a single character to the topic.
Have a great day.

Get a grip dude. No one has gone on a rant except you.Napiophelios wrote:...This is just my opinion of course...
No one is even talking about you and I certainly didn't use
any of the language nor express any of the opinions about you
that you credit me with.
Re: [Forum]Author of a Thread Able to Moderate his Thread
If it's "your opinion", please follow it or keep that up to yourself. Besides the fact of posting something actually unrelated to the topic as well is kind of offtopic and pointless to me.Napiophelios wrote:Get a grip dude. If you're going to use "examples" please be sure of not using the example of anyone that didn't allow you to do so because that can lead to problems like the one actually happening here. It can be offensive without you wanting it to be like that.
Also, please refrain from using such "colorful and big" text in a post since it's really useless and doesn't benefit you emphasizing your argument, use bold or italic text instead if needed, so it doesn't look so "tacky" and at the time it gets the attention you want.
Have a nice day! :D

Re: [Forum]Author of a Thread Able to Moderate his Thread
I was answering a question, Yoshi.
I stated it was my opinion because I didn't want to insinuate
that what I had said was a "rule" of the forum.
I am sorry you are so hurt over something so simple.

It's not that simple, and you get mad about "+1", which is EXACTLY what you did in this very thread.Napiophelios wrote:I was answering a question, Yoshi.

Re: [Forum]Author of a Thread Able to Moderate his Thread
No sir, I disagreed with you, I didn't get mad about anything.
I did express some frustration over the Hometown server thread, that was all.
(And if you follow that thread you will know that I have tried to make amends of sorts.)
Up till Yoshi's comments, I thought this was a civil conversation,
Just people expressing different views.
I am a bit tired of all the projection you and your friend indulge in.
your insinuations and mis-interpretations of my comments
reveals more about the both of you than I am sure either of you are aware.
grow up.

Re: [Forum]Author of a Thread Able to Moderate his Thread
Don't you know one of the first rules of the internet? "Don't fed the troll", if you consider someone to have an inmature and annoying behaviour why even take the time to reply to him? You're feeding him with arguments, later used against you. Yeah, funny thing isn't it?Napiophelios wrote:No sir, I disagreed with you, I didn't get mad about anything.

Re: [Forum]Author of a Thread Able to Moderate his Thread
Yoshi, I was trying to unwind a situation caused by misinterpretation.
I was going for some peace via clarity, but when people take things personal,
that's hard to achieve.
Annnnd...that's the last I will post in this thread.
Amen.

Re: [Forum]Author of a Thread Able to Moderate his Thread
I'm leary of jumping in, but I will, cuz I'm nuts.
What is trying to be put across is, threads keep turning into (almost) like chat sessions.
There are so many ways people can chat with one another... a forum, is not one of them.
While occasional banter, is fine and in good fun..., it always seems to go beyond that point.
Even I have to admit to doing it at times (on Hometown thread) but mostly toward ExeterDad and Kibbie, cuz we old folks... (well not Kibbie, I won't add her to that comment as I prefer to live)
Napiophelios is old folk too. :P
I even saw someone openly accusing Napiophelios of reporting and having posts deleted, which I truly doubt is the case.
I have seen a ton of drama on there as well, which I see as being disrespectful as well as ungrateful behavior toward two really nice people who are providing a place for kids (and growed up kids) to enjoy. Just back n forth bickering and he said she said.
What is very common to see, is people over using the quote feature, and not even bothering to strip out several quotes attached too it.
example:
user 1, posts picture.
user2, uses quote, then a comment (now we have duplicate picture and comment)
user3, uses quote of last 2 posts (picture included) and a comment...
user4, uses quote of last 3 posts (picture included) and comment...
and this just keeps going.
People can chat in-game, or via other means online, not in a forum thread.
And people are turning the HOMETOWN thread into a chat room on poor ExeterDad & Kibbie. Which makes it harder for them to search for anyone who may be posting with an issue, etc...
Then again, I also want to say that my opinions, in no way are intended to say that I know if any of this even bothers them.
SO, the point some are trying to get across is..., some users need to slow down a bit. Think before you post is the main rule anywhere on the web/net/evil-blackness.
Do you really need to add a quote with the same image and prior quotes over and over, and over? Or could you take a second and strip it down to one specific quote you are replying too?
Some doing these things are kids, and some not kids... The "not kids" should know these things, and be examples to the younger kids, and help them to understand
anyway, that's my .02, I expect a nickle back....
and on topic, my idea still stands...
server owners should be able to have a thread, which they can easily be made as mods for, but there would be a small fee, which would help celeron55 with hosting costs
