What The Fog?

by azekill_DIABLO » Post

After this *hilarious* joke, here is my problem:

Image

It happens when the following parameters are set:

Code: Select all

enable_fog = true
fog_start = 0.01
Why is that looking so weird? it looks like a posterisation effect...

THANK YOU!

Okay i experimented a bit and... set fog_start to 1 ... WTF?

Seems like i'm unaware of some fog changes...

EDIT: well setting it to 10 still looks hideous.

Might be related to shaders

What hardware are you running? I've noticed a similar effect on one of my computers as well.

Interesting.. Mine is an AMD E-450 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, running Linux Mint 18.2 x64, OpenGL 3.0.
Additionally, I experienced this with a much earlier version, 0.4.14-dev, before any fog-related changes, as you can see in the following images:

I'll see if I can try latest git on that computer.

:)

does anyone know a way to fix this bug? i often play at tiny view range (which is ridiculous, my graphic card is a monster, but i love fog) and trust me, it looks... Disgusting! (especially with stairs and grass)
