Re: Installing mods is too complicated for me
I can't continue with Minetest anymore cuz it's too bugguy and much more bugguy with the nether and my server is canceled because of that. I have no choice to go back in Minecraft but in single player only cuz the skin won't change.
Re: Installing mods is too complicated for me
Have fun...
Re: Installing mods is too complicated for me
Minetest have a big potential but unfortunately the bugs ruin everything.
Re: Installing mods is too complicated for me
Any bugs will get fixed slow but sure, any bugs in a mod it's up to you to let the developer know since it's not part of the actual game...
Re: Installing mods is too complicated for me
While the Nether generates, you will go back and forth several times between the Nether and Overworld, if that is what you mean by buggy. But that's normal; once the Nether has been generated, portals work as expected.
The Nether mod really needs some kind of portal cooldown timer.

Re: Installing mods is too complicated for me
Minetest is not yet stable enough to support the nether. The developpers have not finished to stabilize Minetest and the nether. Developing a game takes time.

Wow this is the most mind numbing thread I have ever read.
Thanks Xanthin for making it not a complete waste of time.

Maybe looking at the Readme might help? This following quote is taken from README.txt:Lizzy wrote:Minetest is not yet stable enough to support the nether.
So maybe stop complaining about it and start reporting bugs? This game is not finished
--------------------------
- Don't expect it to work as well as a finished game will.
- Please report any bugs. When doing that, debug.txt is useful.
Seeing as the nether is a mod, it is up to the developer of the mod to stabilize it, and it has nothing to do with the actual development of Minetest itself. Also, Minetest is not meant to be a Minecraft clone, and thus, the nether is not an important part of Minetest. How about trying one of the awesome mapgens for Minetest such as Watershed or this awesome underground caves mod? Or, you could try this sub game.Lizzy wrote:The developpers have not finished to stabilize Minetest and the nether.
There are plenty of modders who have made very good playable, stable games/mods, and the engine itself is pretty stable and backwards compatible. Almost all mods will work from one update to the next. Minetest itself is pretty stable. Is it finished though? No. But, for the large part it is stable.
So how about you stop complaining?Lizzy wrote:Developing a game takes time.
But, if you want an exact Minecraft clone, I suggest looking somewhere else for it.
Sorry about that, this thread has been getting on my nerves for some time now, but my rant is over now!
Re: Installing mods is too complicated for me
I don't complaining. A bunch of mods are stable.

No, no, no, no ... Nether mods are stable... and very interresting (example : https://github.com/HybridDog/minetest-nether)Lizzy wrote:Minetest is not yet stable enough to support the nether. The developpers have not finished to stabilize Minetest and the nether. Developing a game takes time.

Re: Installing mods is too complicated for me
Lizzy be sure to extract the file and remove the name "master" before you install a mod, also if you are using Xubuntu (like i am) move the mod into this directory: usr/share/minetest/games/minetest_game/mods. TIP: you may be having problems becuase of dependencies so make sure you have met the dependencies before you install a mod. One last thing: if your looking for a MC clone than try out the MineClone2 subgame.
Hey, what can i say? I'm the bad guy.

Re: Installing mods is too complicated for me
Maybe you run and old outdated version of MT(I thought 4 years there are no multiplayer servers and all mods are broken)?
This is a cool signature. :)
