you can use reshade to add bloom lens flares and vignette to almost every game this includes minetest

So what's all this about then? Are there "shaders" I download to get these cool effects? Is this something there's a PR for?

The original post contains limited information, here, and there's seven pages of replies. What to do?

To be clear it's not a PR and it's not done in the engine it's an external program that does it
This is the program ---> https://reshade.me
You download it than you select your minetest exe (it doesn't work on shortcuts)
Get the exe in your minetest bin folder than
Use opengl (dx doesent work on mt) than sellect some effects or all than in game pres
shift f2 and now you can mess with the settings

Bdw I don't know what params I used I just mesed with it until it looked good :3

The coolest thing about this program Is You can use it in Whatever game you want :)

those who dev on windows are normally less likely to port to linux.

funny though that most who dev on linux, are more likely to port to windows

The problem is NOT writing the shaders, but instead embedding them into the code, which isn't very clear for me due to this amount of references, classes...

Yeh you need to mess with the settings also I recomend you use a combination of bloomfx and magic bloom (that's what I did) also filter out blue so it doesn't mess with the sky to much also green so it doesn't mess with grass

Does this running in the background have any impact on your fps in-game? just curious.
Course, I don't get to tinker with this as.... it is only for dirty/broken windows : p

No. I don't think it affects the in-game performance. However, if Reshade has problems the render will clearly be affected!

Usin' a normalmap we could make ambient occlusion possible. I need all 3 maps : depth, normal and objectmap(rgba), also I need 2nd rendering stage. numberZero's attempt was really helpful.
