I just tried latest win32 build minetest-0.5.0-65c5539-win32 (from https://gitlab.com/minetest/minetest/-/ ... s/download) and it works. So something must be wrong with build process i think. Would be nice to know what, for "educational" purposes.

Calinou seems to be very busy these days, so could you supply a script that compiles Minetest 0.5 Dev on Linux Mint 17.3/Ubuntu 14.04? It would probably help out a good number of people (like me.)

ACtually compiling recent version of minetest are pretty easy... the readme should show you everything you need to know! normally, it's matter of a few command lines...

The program 'minetest' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install minetest


You can run Minetest again by typing "minetest" in a terminal or selecting it in an applications menu.
You can install mods in ~/.minetest/mods, too.
The scripts create this error (the ones in the first post of this topic.) I used to be able to compile Minetest on Linux Mint using these scripts. What happened?

Thanks to the kind folks in irc, I came to the conclusion that I needed to update my cmake, clang, and gcc installations. However, getting Linux Mint 17.3 to actually use the newly installed gcc version proved to be a pain. Luckily, I came across the following instructions on the internet after using DuckDuckGo:

Thanks to those instructions, Calinou's compiling scripts no longer give any fatal errors and are now able to compile Minetest 0.5 Dev.

Upgraded to gcc 7.2, new build just to test this (and whether it fixes the 32-bit problem).

minetest-0.5.0-ab947bd-win64 oddly did not cooperate to start and now it does.

Probably nothing or my virus checker but here it is just for good luck.

Tested in in single player, and on Servers and I think it is pretty sweet.

Honestly, with this build, I can load all sorts of crazy extra mods and fly around on a laptop that normally throws memory errors in Minetest despite having insane amounts of ram and hard drive space.

On top of that we have black tulips and green chrysanthemums.

Late last night I found a bug when using 0.5.0-f470cbf. When I use a server there is an unknown object at my feet. If I hit the unknown object, I take damage. I experienced this on two servers, timetravel and another that I forgot the name of. This bug did not exist on previous builds.

The server needs to run minetest-0.5.0-f470cb7 or higher.

Happy New Year, sfan5!

This version has been really nice and held up for a month!

And now for the complaints. :(

I am getting an unsupported node box version on several servers. I think it is probably time for a new update. Sad really this one has been nice and stable.

It is on the server you just have to drill down. Take the link remove the specific file go to the directory and then download it. So far it is working brilliantly.

You too can have more power on the internets!
First I go to sfan5's build page,
https://minetest.kitsunemimi.pw/builds/
Then I select the most recent build, by right clicking and selecting 'copy link location'
now I can paste the result into notepad or into the browsers url window.
The result is,
https://minetest.kitsunemimi.pw/builds/ ... 7-win64.7z
Now I take off the file name and get the directory address, where the file is stored.
https://minetest.kitsunemimi.pw/builds/win64/
at this address I can see a list of builds. Two look promising and have the same date and time. I take the one that matches the name sfan5 gave.
A minute later, I am logging onto Minetest servers with success.

In the 0.5.0-4f688d5-win64, HUD like hearts doesn't update until I exit and reenter the game, e.g. I take damage, but the hearts still show that I'm full health. Also, mods like hudbars don't replace the hearts. Both the bars and the normal hearts are present together.
