we tried 1, and it really seems to work. we can still hit the invisible wall pretty easily when running through a forest, and the lag is till there, but seems a bit lighter. thanks a bunch :) we really need more and better cores though, so much is clear now :)VanessaE wrote:I've added that feature to biome_lib and pushed Dreambuilder build #20171106-1953. This also brings in an unrelated pipeworks update, btw. Set biome_lib_queue_run_ratio = <some value 1 to 100> in minetest.conf (default is 100, max, effectively a percentage).

Re: [Modpack] Dreambuilder [20171106-1953]
At a setting of 1 you've got the queue speed up into the several events per minute range (rather than several per second). You're not going to see any lag from that, I hope. :-)

Re: [Modpack] Dreambuilder [20171106-1953]
well, the lag is definitely still there, and worldgen can't generate a forest as fast we can run through it. once again, while we strongly suspect this issue is related to dreambuilder, and more specifically woodland biomes, all the evidence we have is circumstantial. this may well be due to a combination of factors, with other parts of worldgen being equally responsible.

I'm not at all sure what else to suggest. Meanwhile, build #20171110-2303 is up (updated pipeworks)
EDIT: make that build #20171111-0023 (updated pipeworks again)

Re: [Modpack] Dreambuilder [20171111-0023]
Sounds like a client problem - there's nothing Dreambuilder or any other modpack can do to influence that.

I must have forgot to mention it. Quarries are temporarily disabled from this modpack until they're fixed upstream.

Re: [Modpack] Dreambuilder [20180511-1022]
Build #20180511-1022:
Add readme.md mostly taken from first post of this forum thread (and markdown-ified)
Updated several mods: castles, homedecor, digilines, farming redo, jumping, maptools, mesecons, moreblocks, moretrees, pipeworks, signs_lib, technic, unified_dyes
Deleted the peaceful_npc mod, as it is broken and unmaintained.

Re: [Modpack] Dreambuilder [20180521-1541]
we just observed a bizzarro bug, related to homedecor beds. the best we can tell, it's scope-related. it looks like the variable player_in_bed, local to both minetest_game and homedecor's bed handler, is experiencing some kind of weirdness.
sleeping in minetest_game's red bed seems to work ok.
sleeping in homedecor's white bed increments player_in_bed shown in homedecor's white bed, and then decrements player_in_bed shown in minetest_game's red bed. as a result, the embedded player count climbs into negative infinity for red beds, and into positive infinity for white beds. we looked and looked and could not figure out how that's even possible :)

Re: [Modpack] Dreambuilder [20180521-1541]
After updating to minetest 0.4.17.1, I am getting crashes on my dedicated server. I updated dreambuilder to the latest, and while it's still crashing, I don't think the dreambuilder is the cause. Having said that, I'm getting a number of warnings in the debug file about "minetest.setting_* functions are deprecated". I've attached a copy of the log file for you to have a look at.

Re: [Modpack] Dreambuilder [20180521-1541]
Ok, I'll just ignore the warnings then. Thanks. The crashing seems to be because the ubuntu ppa is only at 0.4.17, not 0.4.17.1, so I'll have to wait for an update. Hopefully it won't be too long.VanessaE wrote: Definitely not a mod/Dreambuilder bug. As for warnings, ignore them. They're harmless.

Re: [Modpack] Dreambuilder [20180521-1541]
Definitely not ArtDeco. It's based on obsolete model methods (nodeboxes). Sorry, Tumeninodes.
I might consider Facade, but it looks pretty specialized. Show me some use for it that doesn't look like ancient Greek architecture.
Andrey, you're always asking me to add new mods to this modpack.... You DO realize you can just add them yourself, right?

Re: [Modpack] Dreambuilder [20180521-1541]
Slightly OT: Is it possible to map already existing textures to Blender models on-the-fly (i.e. register the untextured model and use it several times with different already existing textures)?
