WasteLands: Survival (Minetest 5.2.x)

This game concept is one that spawns you in a world that's a complete wasteland. You have to collect trees and other things while trying not to be eaten by mobs. Your goal is to create an area sustainable with everything that you need including different machinery and foods. A quest system would need to be worked out though.

I've posted this here because no work has been started yet and am requesting people's suggestions on mods to be added to this game.

What kind of wasteland are we talking about here? After test running your code, I see that it is meant for 0.5.*, correct?

Correct since we are using Melterns in the game. This game is supposed to place you in a barren wasteland where you have to fight to survive. I'm wanting to implement a quest like system also. This game will be more tech based.

like:
Wasteland
Wasteland TNG
and inspired by these:
dYSToPiA

or will it be more like:
Apocalypse Survival
Post-Apocalyptic World (aftermath)

or rather themed on an other world such like among many others the games:
Minetest_Hades
Hades Revisited

not to forget all them games themed on barren worlds with only limited or difficult access to even basic resources.

hopefully not just another zombie apocalypse remake, although we could do with a really well made version in that genre.

I mean I could look if I find some of your code and study that - but today I feel like I'll just ask some silly questions and try and remind the people of the wealth of old games we have, some of which contain brilliant ideas that deserve to live on.

It will be a little bit like the MC fallout, and wasteland.
mostly barren stony, and dirt lands.

We need some help with the inventory. I've got the majority of it done but am wanting to remove the crafting tab from creative but to be able to keep the survival inventory.

In the 'sfinv' mod in init.lua coment out lines 7 through 11 and change line 4 to:
title = "Inventory",
that should do the trick.

I have decided to revitalize this game and we are starting from scratch. That way we can have full control of what's in and not in our game.

OH YES! Finally! Somebody trying to improve the game.

Suggestions :
-1 Rewards/Achievements (example : when first harvest of wheat and cotton, a Farmer NPC appears to help.
-2 Same when building/restoring a house : a Builder NPC comes to help. Same for mining : when certain condition met, a Miner NPC appears.
-3 Kind of "DNA machines" to repopulate the world with animals.
-4 More monsters in deserts and caves
-5 The Ultimate Goal of Wastelands is to restore nature. So, when a tree has grown on grass, a new Tree Sapling appears in a chest in a ruin somewhere.

NPCs are hidden in the game until requiered events occured.

Oh, BTW, you will have to modify the Torch, there is a bug that splits part of the item, it's awful to see.

This is not a fork of the original wastelands this is a new game.
interesting ideas but I think this is more of just live and survive, tho you will find ways to get grass and such, but its not easy as in npcs spawning and all, i love the DNA idea I think we could use it.

Our development has shrank so we're doing some work on it but it's super slow. We definitely need help with it...

We've got some models done for the mobs for WLS. But they aren't animated due to lack of help.
