How to become a "normal user"?
How to become a "normal user"?
I have started a server with Minetest, and I try to limit my power. I've created a new user "admin" and try to limit my powers but it does not succeed. I keep all powers without any error, maybe because I've started the server. What's a good way to become a "normal user" who's rights can be limited? I would like to keep my name, and ownership (area mod, doors).

Yes, I could create another account like "john". But my name is "paul" and I would like to play with that name ;-)Chiantos wrote:Create a other Account and Play with ?
I guess I can rename the existing paul to something else and create a new paul. But then the ownership is wrong, I even cannot open the front-door of my house I guess.
I also use the "areas" mod, but I think the ownership there is easy to change by editing "areas.dat". Correct?

If you start a server, you become automatically admin.
Solution could be:
You insert the Name of an Admin in minetest.conf and start a minetestserver in the background.
Topic in minetest.conf:
Name = <Name of Admin>

Thanks for this! I can revoke rights now to myself and I cannot open doors of others anymore.Clyde wrote:If you start a server, you become automatically admin.

But... I still can destroy things from somebody else, protected by the areas mod, not sure why....

Check with /privs < Yourname> your privileges and then revoke the areas privilege.
