:_ don't use stairs and slabs (8/16) from the circular saw!
Hi Peak,

Thanks for taking an interest. I've obviously not explained myself properly.

Please note that this is with Minetest 5.0.0, not with 0.4.16.

This first image is from a brand new world with no mods enabled at all, except those that are in the default version of minetest_game.

Image

I took this screenshot, then exited to menu, enabled moreblocks, then re-entered the game and took another screenshot. No other actions were taken by me, as you can see, I hardly even moved the mouse.

Image

Cheers,

Andrew.

"Hey @AspireMint! How did you render those sweet pictures of your builds?"
Step-by-step tutorial :
1. Fly HIGH into the air
2. Set a low viewing range(one that is barely high enough to render your entire build)
3. Make a screenshot(F11, AFAIK)
4. Use GIMP to make the background transparent

Binary Sudoku

by voxelproof » Post

Binary Sudoku is an original game designed for use in Minetest, however it is basically a board game and does not require neither Minetest nor any other software to be played (it belongs to the paper-and-pencil games category as ordinary sudoku does).

The idea of this game came to me during the long hours spent on exploration of Minetest's worlds and certainly takes the inspiration from the peculiar feel of this game, so I find it appropriate to share it with the community on this Forum.

The rules are derived from the original sudoku, with one major difference: there're no multiple digits or other symbols which have to be arranged in certain way. In binary sudoku there're only two of them, represented by blocks of white and black wool.

The board features 16x16 grid divided into 16 smaller squares. The goal is to fill it up so that in each row, column and smaller square there're exactly 8 white and 8 black blocks.

The attached example (.we file) has many solutions (it's based on a 16x16 sudoku with even and odd numbers represented by wool of different colours), but the method for solving it differs significantly from classic sudokus.

I hope you'll enjoy it. And let me know if you managed to complete it, I haven't solved it yet :|

EDIT: solution :))

Churches for Christmas

Using the same window module as for the church, the dimensions necessarily increase to a considerable extent. Lighting becomes a problem.

You've shown true architectural mastery here. Especially the 'minimal' cathedral is amazing in its good proportions and it's much harder to achieve this in such low-res building. These screenshots brought me to an idea of applying your schematics (also earlier ones for different kinds of old style buildings) to creating a nice Alpine town or village, set in one of my tweaked Valleys worlds.

File can be found here
https://archive.org/details/3DHouseSunB ... iquidLight
I used the plus or minus X or Z to denote what direction the user is facing to orient the house symbol to face the way I wanted in a specific map...so the 2 files of the same will do for that.

My kids like the 3D version of this as I did a few 2D versions on mountains, so I like to place this out on water and then take the centre of that and make a living and mine tower out of it. Either way have fun with it, and here is a snap shot of what one of them looks like after the kids have gotten to it - remember the glass inbetween the blue isn't included nor the tower under it etc.

Image

Anyone that thinks it's cool enough to have on a shirt, well because after all I was using minetest for thinking outloud before I got my head around inkscape a bit.

Minetest game mod called FarLands, my kids love this game mod. So I thought I would save part of my stone tower so that it's easy to load and extend onto and into your maps.
With this section you can place it up high above land or water of your choice. take the bottom centre part and figure out the cylinder size and extend it into the earth as deep as you like. I like to do small radius air fill for testing depth and then stone and then radius shrink of 1 or 2 and then air fill to hallow out building.
After your tower is extended, take the section of bottom floor and copy it say 10 block down, then 20 etc until your where you filled up your extended basement.

That a fast and easy way to get a large building, and loads of room for my kids and their friends on the server.

https://archive.org/details/FarLandsWoo ... StoneTower
You don't have to take the torrent file to get at the 2 build files...

@Peak: Very impressive cathedrals! I wonder if they might fit into citybuilder. Perhaps the city would have to grow too large to accomodate them...

@TwinGears: Very impressive structure for a 6 year old. I've seen many older players which did far less good. The fish is extremly nicely done and fun to see.
