Re: Making a list of Minetest forks for Android and iOS
Are there any mods to block non-official clients? I feel like half of the players who cheat are only cheating because they downloaded a fake client, thinking it was the real one.

There is a mod called adblock which is supposed to inform players that they're using an unnoficial client however it detects by checking if the play stands still for 10s and displays a big message on his screen. I hate this plguin though because I died on a server a few times because of it.

This is kind of offtopic. Everyone here is thinking 'mobile user'.BBmine wrote:Are there any mods to block non-official clients? I feel like half of the players who cheat are only cheating because they downloaded a fake client, thinking it was the real one.
None of the iOS clients I have seen have been hacked. Most of them actually make you pay to use fly and fast privs

Lol, what a stupid mod. Have devs never heard of “afk”? -_-There is a mod called adblock which is supposed to inform players that they're using an unnoficial client however it detects by checking if the play stands still for 10s and displays a big message on his screen. I'm all for informing players about the abusive Minetest forks, but this is just wrong!

I'm confused what hacked clients have to do with iOS forks of Minetest.

Re: Making a list of Minetest forks for Android and iOS
I know minetest ain't roblox, but OOF.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... blockworld
He just built minetest and changed the name on playstore, cummon thats another level of lazy.
Alsoo https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... vivalcraft
Seems to be illegal? I mean it has no source code, idk if thats allowed. At first screenshot its not too obvious, but if you look closer at the creative inventory you can see a meseblock, also you can find some minetest mobs mods, some minetest decoration mods and others, also the light really looks minetestish. It has ads, but the controls seems to be redesigned. At least they did smth, what bothers me is not a single credit to minetest in description, neither source code.

Please note that above things are not nearly as good as stu's Unofficial Builds.

And the Survival Craft: Exploration one is also a minetest fork. And it also illegally uses Minecraft textures! The buttons in the inventory look like Minetest buttons, the item list on the left is from a mod whose name I forgot

There's a user and he has 13 games forked from Minetest on his account.

A player with the same name is registered on the LinuxWorks server. I hope, it's just a co-incidence.migdyn wrote:There's a user and he has 13 games forked from Minetest on his account.

Well, if someone has the word "Studio" in his name then probably it's not just a normal player.

There is another fork of minetest - it is a modified (sub)game of minetest - with android support:
https://runs.itch.io/bogart-game
i tested the android version on a samsung tablet, but gets bad framerates!! its just a alpha version of bogart-minetest i would say!!

Re: Making a list of Minetest forks for Android and iOS
Just a quick note: It's not forbidden to sell Minetest itself, or forks of Minetest-based games. As long you also get the full source code after the purchase, it's OK as it still qualifies as open source / free software. Everybody can do so, legally. But the copyleft restrictions forbid you from monopolizing Minetest.

Re: Making a list of Minetest forks for Android and iOS
Just in the Morning I was thinking about as I jailed for fun some fake-gamer in my server (called MultiCraft, FreeMiner, and more) ...
Image
I have no doubt that there are legal options, so other builds need to be scored evaluated for different options:
* copy this minetest code or not,
* if copy, right license declaration ?
* and then still open code ?
* build in cheats or tricks, over-going server rules ?
* abused to make money for the offender like advertisement breaks ?
At the two last points I am ban them already .. if I realize,
what to do with the one license and not open code ... hmmm
(I just had now first new 5.0.0 visitors on the 5.1.0-dev server and one already came in with fly, what is seen easy when they use elevator and stuck in then, I was just nearby looking it)

It's mine hahaha. It's not a fork, but a game. I have not modified the code.cHyper wrote:There is another fork of minetest - it is a modified (sub)game of minetest - with android support:

Android bad frametimes is cause of the HD graphics. You need a tablet/phone of new generation. And also is in beta state :-/ I do not bother, I never play in Android, so it is much more an experiment than a game.

You did it cool. It's normal to make new games on Minetest engine.runs wrote:It's mine hahaha. It's not a fork, but a game. I have not modified the code.cHyper wrote:There is another fork of minetest - it is a modified (sub)game of minetest - with android support:

Re: Making a list of Minetest forks for Android and iOS
If anyone has found an iOS minetest version 5.0.1 on the App Store, regardless of ads or iAP’s I would like to know. I’m running a minetest server for my family and they all have iPhones so they could join on those. They ALL seem to be out of date.

Re: Making a list of Minetest forks for Android and iOS
You can try my adblock mod.BBmine wrote:Are there any mods to block non-official clients?
This is incorrect. It checks if the player is walking, but don't change it's position. So if the player is walking for 10 seconds on the same spot. On laggy servers or with bad internet connections there can be the risk, that you see the formspec with official minetest too(Maybe server owners can increase the time from 10 to 20 seconds). But lag and internet connection is always a bit risky.migdyn wrote:There is a mod called adblock which is supposed to inform players that they're using an unnoficial client however it detects by checking if the play stands still for 10s and displays a big message on his screen. Never heard of beeing afk while walking. :) That only happens if you are walking and then ads crash your game play.Wuzzy wrote:Lol, what a stupid mod. Have devs never heard of “afk”? -_-
What's your opinion about multicraft servers in the MINETEST server list?
And what's your opinion about this user: Google Player User?

Re: Making a list of Minetest forks for Android and iOS
Ternava apps Craft and Building
with new FAKE
"Thailand Minetest.one multiplayer crafting server"
162.225.145.53 is the IP shown in this app when connect server. There is NO server collection ...
162-225-145-53.lightspeed.sntcca.sbcglobal.net
Server name: Paradise (under construction)
IP belongs in California (Coupertino, Yountville, Santa Clara)
the game loading takes about 10 minutes, in this time I had to see several stupid other game ads.
And it is not reaching my server ... that is another one.
Will see what I get together more.
But I rated the game bad, as illegal ? copy, using name, and domain of my combination,
also I have seen Vanessa's also copied into names app, so that there is a clear point on who that might be: OldWomen or StupidCoder ... what is called ?
I also did a complain on this app to google play.
How to find out the port that server is using ?
