[Server] TimeSent (Adventure/Fantasy survival)

TimeSent - Return of The Testing Grounds

You emerge from an ancient fossil of some eldritch horror, and step forward into what appears to be a Japanese palace on the bay, except that the inside looks more like a train station, but with portals?!
Welcome to TimeSent.

TimeSent is a fantasy/adventure server with many custom mods, some of which are experimental, and still in early development. The entire compilation of mods present on this server can be found in the server's NotABug.org repository.
This server has a LOT of particles, mobile users beware.

Before you ask, yes. timesent is an anagram of minetest.

Server Info

This server has the same world file from The Testing Grounds, backed up the instant it shut down. Things have picked up from that point as if it never went offline.

If you are under the age of 13, you are not allowed to play on this server. Please do not join if you are under 13 years old, or you may be permanently banned.
The owner of this server is HOST (all uppercase, no numbers). Anyone else claiming to be an admin is lying. Admins will NEVER ask for your password/information/items.
Privacy Notice: All actions including commands, chat and node interactions are recorded. The owner reads the server logs, daily. Do not share any personal or private information

Default privileges: interact, shout, home, zoom, minimap

Gameplay Rules
The rules on this server are fairly permissive in terms of gameplay.
  1. Mild swearing is allowed, but any kind of illegal, hateful, impersonating or obscene behavior is not. Breaking this rule will earn an instant, permanent, non-negotiable ban.
  2. Griefing is allowed, but using glitches to grief protected areas is forbidden.
  3. Intentionally trying to crash, lag, or spam the server is not allowed.
  4. Don't actively encourage the use of non-libre software versus a libre alternative. https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.en.html
  5. Have fun!

Special rules:
Here are some common rules on other servers that are different here.
  • Griefing, and building in the sky or underground is allowed. The only places you're not allowed to build or go are places where WardZones prevents you from doing so.
  • Modified clients are allowed, unless they pose a risk to the server's security. You may be asked to provide source code. Refusal to provide source code, or continued use of a modified client which you have been told to stop using is grounds for a permanent ban.
  • Talking about other servers is fine, as long as you're not blatantly spamming advertisements (rule 3), and the server does not contain content which violates rule 1.
  • PVP is allowed everywhere, except in the spawn area.

The server can be found by searching for "TimeSent" in the server list, or by connecting to 104.168.133.17 (port 30000).

After my some visit and knowing where public farm to find some food, i think starting as new player becomes easier. I may have a very limited time for regular visit but I think it is a relaxing server for group of players. I can't judge about the lag because I have 200ms of ping time I think I'm a little far from server location. The meshnode may be the strong point to have not only decorative structures but also functional. I imagine some ships docking near the spawn to come and go or even flying house with support to large size structure. I don't like to give too much comment as it will become spoiler, let other players experience themselves.

Having server is fun and give a way of expression and sharing the fun. Hope we'll see again.

Flying houses are welcome, but I'd prefer that people not park their ships in the middle of the protected spawn area because of lag and clutter.

If you leave your ship in spawn, I (HOST) may tow your ship to the admin area, and you'll have to give a physical description of it to get it back.

I turned my entire base into a meshnode ship.

It was pure agony, every second of it.

It sent my framerate down into the sunless sea from dfcaverns, and strained the server CPU.

But it worked.

2500+ nodes, all as entities, a flying pagoda arrives on a tide of lag.

I regret nothing.

wow flying base reminds me of starcraft, yeah its an old game. So i think this will give a small hut advantage to be movable for better location.

Through some optimization, I've managed to cut down (er, technically break up into smaller pieces) the amount of serverside lag caused by the ships. More optimization may be made later, but even large ships are fairly stable now, it just depends whether your client can handle that many entities.

tmw_slimes is on the server now. The old slimes mod has been removed, so if you see unknown objects floating around... ...Well, darn.
