Cubic Worlds

by runs » Post

I mean real cubic, like this (with the center of gravity at the center point of the world and floating in space):

I would like this feature :-)

Possible thru a mapgen?

Rendering it would be possible, but you can’t walk on the sides.

I seem to recall that paramat did just this in a fork posted a few years back.

I would like a way to change players acceleretion and players head turning completely, then you could easly build small planets like that, and change players acceleretion (gravity) after thers position.

this would also allow us to completly move freely, eg in air, space, water, and do tricking / backflips :)

it would be mess with players animation, but does it matter?

not cubic, but try viewtopic.php?f=14&t=15643

I have a mod that creates a cube world, but it didn't change gravity, that would be a big job in the engine.

Isn't it already possible to change physics on a per-player basis? So in some way "simulating" gravity being the center of the world is already possible (except the controls being messed up when not on top of the cube), right?

Horizontal gravity on the sides of the cubes isn't possible though afaik.

What a bummer! So we need a way to allow different gravity and “look-around lock center” for this exact reason.

Just imagine how space games/mods would benefit from this.

Just realize how bored we would be if the world was perfect.

Could the gravity on the cubic worlds look like this?:

Or this?

Perhaps the player's model and perspective would not change but their movement would. This sounds more possible to do with the current engine.
