hello everyone.... my name is enthlojeek. (username that is)
i was wondering ... i'm not sure if my following question is valid in
the general discussion, but here goes nothing.....

i've mainly only single played in building things at a few worlds
i've created since i've downloaded minetest just less than 72 hours
ago. i was wondering how do i change my username in the game?
to change my name from "singleplayer" to reflect my actual user
name from the forums here perhaps??? i still see it seems to say
"owned by singleplayer" every time i pan the mouse pointer onto
the steel door object. also i seemed to have gained someone
intermittently trying to taunt me or troll me in one of the particular
worlds i've created. unfortunately i'm not even sure what i did to
anger them........ (shrugs.....)

If you are playing in the singleplayer your name is always singleplayer. To change it, you need to host a local server. To do this click on

host server

Then you can edit the name and enter a password.

Then it's possible to join with a second account by

open a new minetest window, go to multiplayer enter 127.0.0.1 as adress and join

Wait, if you're in singleplayer, how is someone else in your world?

I also had a noob tell me that he found someone with his real username in a singleplayer world. Imagine, for example, you were in singleplayer and had PolySaken join the game. Apparently this troll was cussing heavily, using the username of the real noob. I'd like to know how that happened o_O

Or make a server with this steps

1. goto the map where minetest is standing and then to the "bin" dir (I mean this "$minetest/bin")
2. (When you use Windows) make a ".bat" script with this code "

3. Start the script and check what your IP adress is and join that IP adress (goto Windows Powershell and type "ipconfig" and look behind the " IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : ")

What's exactly happening? Can you do a screenshot showing that "someone"? If you are playing in a singleplayer world, there ought to be no-one else around. There are some mods that add mobs (monsters etc.) which may look exactly like a player. There's also the aliveai mod that adds mobs which behave exactly like some young players sometimes found on servers. These mobs even "talk" with the player.
