I wouldn't say "a dead game without future" . Many free online games have a small amount of multiplayers considering over 7 billion people on earth. Running a public server just doesn't seem rewarding in this age of social media (self promotion) addiction. Gaming will come back in style sooner or later.

but I was too lazy to restart as even last 2 weeks very less gamer on

so saving more soon (1.10. server off) also the energy beside no anger any-more with cheaters, griefers, ...

last week just 5 visitors = main gamer took there backup and play offline or somewhere else
and other visitors just in for 2-5 minutes

one tried 27 times to join, didn't know the password, tried diff names ... ??? (Australia)

= I see no need to wait longer than the 25. when electric is measured and I get clear cut to see difference in electric usage

I went down memory lane a little and toured some of the places I liked.
Saved to local some of my builds and still didn't come up with a good idea how to finish my projects.
Although I mostly just lurked I did read most of your reports on your setup which I thought a pretty interesting endeavor. Would like to know more about the "solar powered specs".
You did get me interested in Chiang Mai and it's history.
Hope you won't loose all interest in minetest.

I guess you have seen the download link for world and files in welcome news,

The location of Chiang Mai and the normal 1qm solar radiation is open source.

My unit 1 is :
* Synergy 2kw (18.000 Baht) and connected to 10 Solar panel 330 Watt / 12 Volt (each 3.990 Baht - 2*1 meter) on a 12 grade roof straight to south.
In this configuration it exists just since a month, after started with 6 (sept 2019), 7, 8 and 9 Solar Connected.

The maximum output is official "Limited" by the hardware and maybe the web-host is 2.000 Watt hour, but the company allows 2.200 Watt to be shown in the income graphic send from my unit to them, BUT my extra watt-meter tell me sometime more, but for short time, reaching the limit of Ampere allowed in the unit.

But there IS more real Power produced (own meter) then synergy (want) tells me.

Power in per month, depending on the measurement on 24. or 25. on a month.
- to 25.09.2020 - all together 361
- to 25.08. - 343 + 15
- to 25.07. - 401 + 12 (reactivated the small unit)
- to 24.06. - 410
average about 361 KW per month in that year, but that mean with the older configure with LESS solar cells.
so the following months will be more harvest then the year(month) before, starting with then end october bill, that first repeating month = same conditions of a month (rain season, winter-less clouds, summer-hot).

Also now, since June is rain season = more clouds
= sometime a day give only 1.5 KW, other days can go over 16 KW


unit 2: bought first in august 2019, but not used as the solar cells was more effective on the bigger one ...
300 Watt on-grid inverter with (again) one same 330 Watt / 12 Volt cell.

This one is not even able to make as now 10% of the bigger unit, as the bigger one has MPPT optimization.


The last change a month ago was also to raise (new cable) to 4.5 qmm, and then to the 16 qmm main connection. That stabilises the current deliver a lot.

Overall I got savings by reduce electric bill by 33% of the buy price, mean in 3 years it is pay-back and going to make win, IF it is working so long (China)

The sun-power is much enough to power our private electric usage for 75%, and withOUT the server then near 100%. Depending on the month like Mai very hot with air-con, but in December/jan cold here, no air-con - might sure 100%.

If I have another about 40.000 Baht I would buy a second unit and more cells (each unit just 8) ...
but after I read that the 10% richest people in the world are causing 52% of all climate pollution,
and the poorest 50% cause just 15% ... I am very sure my footprint is far under average.
But that will even not help my daughter have a easy life after 2030 any-more ...

Today was electric counting bill

= minetestserver AND also web-server is off now
(maybe I will take a RP2 to run a web server later)

but as of starting actualizing my numbers ...
The Solar-unit delivered in the last year...
* 80% of our private Electric usage (Light, Cocking, Shower heater, Laundry, Aircon and PC + server)
* 30% of our own land based consumers like private + fishing-park, restaurant, park-light, water, ...
* 19% of the official electric supply counter, where one more neighbour is connected

nice ...

just not gaming any-more (kids have 5 instead of 3 days school) and I stopped also saved 100 KWh in my room.

This is why I wrote and still say "Minetest is death" - when ideas are thrown away like nothing.
It is a difference if a idea is taken as joke, or discuss seriously (even if have to mention too less programmers for this) = what makes an idea dying and the game itself disappear to forgotten.

energy saving in that 12 days seam 62 KW/h less this month
and MOSTLY no trouble with thieves, ... on the server
= was worth to finish minetest

getting messages about how I might reopen, or to solve (my) problems:

* seam like no one of the old gamer was able to copy and offer same saver, even data was available

the usage of the server is about 70 KW/h in month for just mts
that is 1/5 or 20 % of private usage, or 1/10 or 10% of our own counter, or 1/6 of Solar Harvest
as of our restaurant runs very well, and we are able to pay our main bills even save some, that is not a problem as long the restaurant makes the about 900 Baht a day (25 Euro Day for our live)
... getting every day even 140 Baht to enlarge the Solar once a month
... and the server would be another 10 Baht a day ... mhhh = 1 less ice-cream for my daughter (smile)

Just in that 24 hours the server was running, see everything works fin if needed,
on gamer "jams" only got in, in just have that so annoying "Help" message, without any reason or hint.

Made me shut down immediately and will wait until 24 or 25 December for holiday time for 2 Weeks ...

by the way, - XP-Redo
with Pandorabox (Thailand) I did a lot of XP in one day, reaching 140.000
catch by Cooking with 160.000 and 170.000 XP a day
but now Bonat beat us all 185.000 in one day.

No tree-cut, and no litter (Items), all nice taken and stored ...

May be Christmas time with a free day to kick 200.000 ?

server still closed as of financial problems

as 95% of our income (my Thai partner) was based on tourism and Thailand is closed since March for Foreigners there IS NO Income.
So to keep important payments running but low, save everything can. Even discussed to finish private school for my daughter = 30% of costs per month.

So now the restaurant we had but enlarged is running well since 2 months I keep waiting until 25.10. to see if that is steady enough to power server back on.

Server is about local 300 Baht a month (actual 8,33 Euro) what does sound much, but is is 1,2 % of our monthly needed payments.
Yes seams high, but we own own land and house, so there is no renting (20.000 Baht), Restaurant Rent (10.000 Baht) or Fishing Lake Rent (5.000 Baht) per Month = 35.000 Baht, more than we need income in cash (25.000 Baht) for electric, diesel, insurance, food, school, ... I "make" by the investment I did 2005.

So I check how that is running, as also the solar saves a lot of electric bill now, last with 1.600 Baht not to pay last month (saved 22.100 Baht in 14 months, with Invest of near 60.000 Baht = makes win before 3 years run time).

So as of also some German asked, there will be a solution soon for reopen - as long we have income to pay also some fun !.

after playing around with Hyper-loop
seam much better than Travel-net for realistic,
BUT as like as cart ... a lot of own different networks, or then too much stations on one ...
missing a kind of ID for a network, that even if sharing routes, is not same network ...

Build about 8000 Nodes long, 24 Stations, 4 Level Network (on TechAge Server) ... to check about cover hole world with every 1000 a station, BUT not exceed more than 30 stations in one network.
Possible ... as with an
* admin network: spawns, showroom,
* WorldNetwork: if just every 10000 a station = 37 stations (start and 6*6)
* Region Network with parts in East, West, South and North of a 10.000 * 10.000 Region, mean all would be 10*10 = 100, so make 4 directions, get each zone 1+24
* local networks just up to 500 distance from a Region Station, as 500 +/- near 0,0,0 or a 1000,0,3000 station
not to forget maybe shopping Network ...

ok we stay/keep at Travel-net for the main things ...


also at TechAge I am a bit in now ... yes, more realistic, but mix both on one Server ?
Sure no problems from lag like the actual one ... and also fixing into some Regions with older Builds ...

Just got Mail that server seam not be in serverlist since 2 Weeks (about 21.12.),
but as I don't change any settings here ... as just another UDP forward for roblox ... that I just deleted, and have to check ...

checking today morning after router got new IP from provider (24h) I found even a hour later still wrong IP,
so I reconfigure router again, also test with dynamic update from the minetestserver also ...

Ok, just was up early enouth to see, thgat the router is faster with updateing again as working with the right password, it took not 5 minutes to update the right IP
