How To Host an Minetest [4.0 +5.0] server?

by maikerumine » Post

Apart from using multicraft, is there a way to be open to both protocols?
How can this be achieved?

A: No, there's no way.
Multicraft sacrifices multiple features and improvements to ensure compatibility.

so depending on his answer, then there is a way (as shown with MC), if you do the same "sacrifices"
and can program / code the source yourself - implementing both protocol versions

the other option might be with postgres db where you use same one db, but 2 diff version server to offer same world, not easy - but I got that run with one DB used by 3 same 5.0 mtserver
