Help with one thing: Port Forwarding

by SimplyMelee » Sat Sep 08, 2012 17:11

I have finished everything for my server, setting it up & running it! But one last task needs to be completed: Port forwarding...

I'm killing myself trying to find out what this is and how I do it, Please, PLEASE help me!

We can't really help with port forwarding -- there are so many different routers out there (at least, tell us which router you are using).

I change my router settings by connecting to it in a web browser.

Just take something to write and write on, walk to the router and write down what you can read. Start with the normal text and short numbers. Then type it in google. At least that's how I would do it.

The router also named the modem, the thing given by your ISP, where you connect your PC to acces to the internet.

Better to open a command prompt (under Windows) and type IPCONFIG, then press enter. The gateway IP will most likely be the router you need to change. For example, mine is in the 172.25.x.x range.

Here are two threads, the first mentions port forwarding specifically:
