Maybe try reinstalling Minetest?
Could it be that you have 32-Bit PC? I don't think so and I'm not familiar with it, but could that be the problem? :D

I do have multiple 32-bit PCs but this isn't one of them.

I tried deleting a part of a broken area in a copy of the world, in the first PC with the original minetest version. It told me that "there was an error during deletion of the area".

And doing it in a non-broken area just breaks that area too.

I have a serious problem with a world I've spent a lot of time building in.

First, minetest started giving me this error and then shutting down:

2023-11-15 18:48:51: [Emerge-0]: zerr: invalid or incomplete deflate data
2023-11-15 18:48:51: ERROR[Emerge-0]: Invalid block data in database (-725,8,324) (SerializationError): decompressZlib: inflate failed
2023-11-15 18:48:51: ERROR[Main]: ServerError: AsyncErr: Invalid data in MapBlock (-727,4,326)
2023-11-15 18:48:51: ERROR[Main]: ----
2023-11-15 18:48:51: ERROR[Main]: "Invalid block data in database"
2023-11-15 18:48:51: ERROR[Main]: See debug.txt.
2023-11-15 18:48:51: ERROR[Main]: You can ignore this using [ignore_world_load_errors = true].

Then, it stopped giving the error, but that's where the real problem started.

It started regenerating the world.

First, some places randomly become dark, and then, the map area near them is regenerated, destroying all of my stuff. (Even if something survies, it wil disappear when I close and reopen the game.)

Is there any way to stop this and save the world?

I know what happened and I know your potential outcome.

I backed up my server map file while server was online... For some reason when I used this backup I got same error as you... It basically means you lost that file.

Maybe you could try ''minetest --migrate'' and maybe the software will fix that error...

I never tried this, I lost my world and had to start new server..... Very very sad time indeed.... I offer you a hug if that helps

......

After consideration, I'm guessing that it's regenerating area it has no data of becuse the mapblocks were changing.

You need do offline backups, knock server offline for it.

It's best way... I miss the world I lost every day I login to my server, Im reminded it's not the same.
