That's what I was talking about. The idea was vehicles you could shape while the game is running though. With a single simple entity all you can do is pick from one of a number of statically constructed shapes (meshes) at run time. With nodes or a conglomeration of entities, you might be able to achieve the building aspect.Traxie21 wrote:Why not use entities and attach()

OK, well I'm going to be honest. I got the idea from a MineCraft video when alpha was first available. This guy built a plane and had a control block, it didn't attach him to it, and he hit it and had the controls, he walked around while it was flying and everything. I can't seem to find the video now. It was some Swedish guy. He was funny as hell to. Lol. But yeah, if you can find the video, that's what I wanted.

Wardrobe:
Like a chest, but with a button that transfers your inventory into the wardrobe. So you can "save" your inventory and use one for mining, one for building one for gardening and so on.
Multiple You:
Similar to wardrobe. But you create a second body with its own inventory. By using a command you become that body (changing inventory, get teleported to that position). So you can have multiple bodies all over the world and don't have long distances to travel, because you are already there

How is progress on this these days? I can really see this being a revolutionary breakthrough for Minetest. Older games like Quake 3 Arena and Half Life have colored lighting in them. It could involve hexadecimals or the three numbers for red, blue, and green to determine what the lighting colors are.Likwid H-Craft wrote:and lavaInocudom wrote:I would imagine Minetest's engine being capable of colored environment lighting if given the proper coding. For example, nighttime lighting and torch lighting give off different colors of light. Colored environment lighting would make mods like bobblocks and homedecor more interesting.
I am going see, I can make it work.

Not a simple function, no. You'll have to use something like minetest.env:find_nodes_in_area(...) and then iterate over the results to do what you want.InfinityProject wrote:Is there a lua function that can replace a specific type of node in an area with an entity of the same texture?

Here is an idea for you!
What if some one made a mod where you would have a special type of chest. Then attach either a pipe to it or a controller. Then attach other chests to it. If you didn't add the controler then you can only put one chest. If you did attach the controller then the chests ask for you to input a name when you place them such as cobble then the controller would show you a list of the names attached to its piping and you could select one! But you could make the piping as long as you wanted from the controller or just pipe so that you could send items to another place!
I was just wondering if this was possibe!
If this is possible ANYONE can use the idea!
Thanks for reading!

Pipeworks has tubes that are used by technic to transport items. They have standard tubes (container to container) and teleport tubes (along with other useful things like mese tubes to auto-sort stuff).oxenfreedan wrote:Here is an idea for you!

With lua everything is possible. Anything can be coded in any language you just have to devote time to it.MT (^_^)/ wrote:two ideas won't happen:
