In a nutshell: I hate the new export feature, and save as should work like save as should do in paint: save it as another file type, not some bullshit motherfuckery by using export.
P.S. GIMP Devs, stop tomfooling around, sort your bullshit motherfuckery out and make it so save as becomes export. Jeez. And make it the same keyboard shortcut while we are here.

I got angry over the bullshitty changes in GIMP, the PS bit was for the lulz.
I'm relatively neutral about that, because there are more serious problems in 2.8, like horrible behavior on multiple virtual desktops. Try and see what happens if you open gimp on your second virtual desktop, open some dialog and switch around doing stuff on other virtual desktops. Chances are you have just lost the dialog to some completely random place.

Maybe that's what happens randomly to my sidebars. Occasionally they will simply disappear. I attributed that more to the fact that I was using a tiling wm, but I was also using multiple monitors.

Personally, although the new export behavior is a little bit more work, I've gotten used to it, and I think it really makes more sense. You're editing and saving a special image with multiple layers and fancy thing like masks; a simple one-layer image like .png or .jpg is really a different kind of file.

What would remedy the problem is if the export dialog could also save to XCF.
Then all one need do is point shift-ctrl-S back to "Export".. But noooooo it just HAS to be a different function. Like some others, I find it irritating to have two separate ways to save a file.
I'd like it if export worked like save, and didn't ask to overwrite the file and information each time. It's annoying to have to click through 3 dialogs every time I save.
