Minetest Wiki

by neron » Post

This site is very important to new users, but it is not kept up-to-date like the Minecraft Wiki is. My friend and I are working on it, but it can't be done by us alone. Can you all help join in to make it updated and complete?

But there is no minetest wiki like the minecraft one, where it has pages for all the different blocks (nodes). I think it would be easier to completely remake the minetest wiki from scratch then to update all the pages.

Well can we make a decision? We need a wiki even if you want to host it at minetest.net Could a mod please look at this?

We already have an offical wiki

How hard would it be to add blocks and tools and stuff to that? Afaik, some are already there.

Could a second wiki be added? wiki.minetest.net? It would be the goto for anyone who didn't want to be a dev to learn the game.

Even the Minecraft wiki has dev information. Why not just have both and give both equal precedence?

Who is going to go to the minetest dev wiki for crafting info? The dev wiki is for dev primarily.

It's easy to rename/redirect it to wiki.minetest.net

Well, it's hosted on another server, with a different version of MediaWiki, different administratiors and users. It's probably not a good thing to do in the long run (on top of that, it's very confusing).

Game info isn't only for users, it can be useful for developers. And you could redirect http://wiki.minetest.net to http://dev.minetest.net easily.

Back on topic: I'll make nice renders for the new ores/blocks soon, in a few days probably. :)
