Economy Gamemode Ideas

by LandMine » Post

i posted a thread a couple days ago asking what would make a good economy server. I got alot of ideas and PilzAdam has been implementing them into an Economy Gamemode.

The game mode so far has a basic Skill system and will count with a custom money system. The skill system will affect the entire gameplay creating an RPG feel to the game. You will be able to craft items, cook them depending on your level skill. For example, you will need Level 1 WoodCutting skills to craft sticks and 2 for Wood. Some skills will be only available for purchase.

Depending on how much a certain tool is used or a certain action is performed, players will gain experience that will eventually add bonuses

Players get money selling items mostly ingots (iron, gold, diamond, bronze) and can use that money to buy items yet not available to them cause of lack of SKILLS.

Still more ideas are needed to add more to the gamemode, and features it should contain. So give us ideas :D

If you would like to contribute to the gamemode, you can find PilzAdam's repo here:

If you have textures for workbench, or store nodes that would be appreciated to :D

I have an idea for increasing skills.

You gain experience or points or whatever we want to call it for using tools, digging nodes, maybe even building (except with nodes like dirt and sand so people don't dig and place nodes repeatedly just for experience), etc...

Then we update the bookshelf node so when you right click on it you get a formspec of the skills you can upgrade, much like any RPG. Click to upgrade a skill and it takes your points and boosts your skill. Lower levels cost less points obviously. So stone level 1 may be 1000 experience, but level 1 mese may be 5000.

Probably need a level for materials, and another level for the tools. So a combination of the material level and tool level determines how durable the tool will be when you craft it.

@PilzAdam

After testing i have a couple ideas:
1.- a Way to check your skills. For example /skills ------ wood1, craft0, iron1 etc etc
2.- Make a "hardcore" option where if a player dies the player looses all skills. Where you can enable or disable this option.

Also Found a small bug in the shop. Basically if you sell 1 item you get the value of the item (9 in this case)

But if you sell a stack of items, you only get paid the value of 1 item (in this example its a stack of 9 items, so the shop should pay me 81 credits, but it only pays 9)
