I Need Help!

by Motherboard » Post

I want to create my own texture pack, but I cannot find the default textures. So can someone please tell me where to find them! Also what Program would be good to manipulate these textures?

Also I would like the publics opinion on what kind of texture pack I should make. Like Realistic, Medieval, Modern, Cartoons, HD, etc. Please post so I can figure out how to make a texture pack!

The default textures are in games/minetest_game/mods/default/textures/ (also look into the other mods' textures/ folders).

I use gimp to modify and create textures.

If I had to choose a texture pack then it would be something cartoon-ish. There is MineToon and Sphax' TP already, though, so a new cartoon TP is not needed, I guess.

A VERY good texture pack maker would be Green Fish Icon Editor (Free). It is often abbreviated as gfie.
Some Mods: Castles Prefab Camouflage
My Games: Nostalgia Realtest Revamped
Servers: See above games.

My opinion on what kind of texture pack you should make:

It should be one you like working on, one according to your taste.

To start with I wouldn't use a resolution above 64x64.
Maybe the main theme should be quite faithful, adding some detail (if over 16x16), giving some of the textures a very personal touch, while keeping them recognizable.

Worst thing to do: set your goals too high (that's actually why I never finished a texture pack :D).

Noob 4 life!
My stuff
